In an effort to expand Block U beyond just the traditional coverage of football and basketball, I'll be looking at lesser known sports as well. This will include volleyball, gymnastics, skiing, soccer and golf among other programs that succeed.

The University of Utah volleyball team is currently ranked 24th in the nation and will be hosting the Utah Classic this Friday through Saturday. Three teams will make the trek to Salt Lake City for the round-robin tournament, they include Temple, Utah State and Missouri State.

Next week the Utes will have matches on the road against Weber State (Tuesday, September 12th), Colorado State at home (Friday, September 15th) and another home match, this time against Air Force (Saturday, September 16th).

Currently the Utes volleyball team is 3-2, with their losses coming to No. 5 Florida and No. 14 USC. Both games were on the road.
