Steve Tate, fresh off of 12 tackles and one sack against the Rams, has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week. It's the fifth straight week a Ute has been honored with the weekly award, with Darrell Mack, Robert Johnson, Louie Sakoda and Derrek Richards also sharing the honors in the past. Sakoda, who had won the special teams award four times this season, lost out to Lobo kicker John Sullivan and Wyoming kicker Billy Vinnedge this time around.
Utah's five consecutive weeks of having a player recognized by the conference will come to an end, since the team has a bye week this week.
