Oregon State-Utah Gameday open thread

Oregon St. Beavers at Utah Utes, Oct 2, 2008 7:00 PM MDT

C'mon Utes, let's show the BCS we belong!

Gameday
Oregon State Utah

Quick Look

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

7:00 MST

Rice-Eccles Stadium, Salt Lake City, Utah

TV: Versus

Radio: KALL 700

Game Preview

What to expect when Utah has the ball: The Utes will most likely try to establish a run game on the Beavers, while also opening things up through the air. Like last week, I predict this will be a fairly balanced game  in terms of offensive production.

What to expect when Oregon State has the ball: The Beavers have a solid running game built around Jacquizz Rodgers and I expect him to see a ton of touches tonight. They also can throw the ball, as well, so don't be surprised if Lyle Moevao tries to move the ball through the air. Like Utah, expect them to mix things up, as they've got the offensive weapons to really challenge the Utes' defense.

How Utah wins: Utah needs Brian Johnson to avoid pressure the best he can. Oregon State does not have a solid track record of getting to the quarterback this season, which should afford Johnson the chance to show some poise. If Johnson doesn't panic and the Utes can find a solid running game, they should have the offensive firepower to win. They would also be greatly helped if the defense can completely stuff the run, forcing the Beavers into a one-dimensional passing offense.

Lucky feelin' it tonight!

Thursday be the perfect time for Utah victory!
