Wyoming Lands Offensive Guru

Dave Christensen, offensive coordinator at Missouri, will be Cowboy Joe's new Head Coach.

That speaks well for the MWC.  If the Cowboysm, and Laramie is a dismal place to recruit to, can land a guy who is on the radar like that, things are looking brighter weekly.  Now if we can lure Boise and Tulsa to our conference . . .

 From that link:

Christensen is regarded as one of top offensive minds in the country. In 2007, Missouri's offense scored a school-record 558 points and ranked in the top 10 in the nation in scoring offense, passing offense and total offense.

It's a good hire.

We’ll see what he can do there, but Wyoming has traditionally been successful with offensive-minded coaches (Dimel, Tiller Roach).

It’ll be tough getting things together there, but I expect Wyoming to turn it around and become a solid 8-9 win team in the future.

Wyoming wins 8 games, Christensen leaves for a bigger paycheck. Does the guy have any reason to stay in Wyoming, other than they gave him his first job? He’s from Washington, and that job (or WA State) is sure to be open again soon.

Of course. Wyoming will always be a stepping stone.

It’s not like Utah or BYU where you can stay and have nearly unlimited success.

The first 8-win season they have and he’s likely gone. Hell, until Glenn imploded, he was a shoe-in for the Nebraska job.

Glenn

Glenn should have left after the UCLA Vegas Bowl win. He’d have gotten a slightly better job, at least, if not a significantly better job, and could have kept going at a place with a much higher chance of success.

Recruiting/Hiring in Laramie

You do know the A.D. @ WYO flies potential candidates/recruits into Denver at night. Takes them out on the town, all the while impressing upon them: “This is South Laramie”.

Unrelated to Wyoming

SDSU could be interviewing Mike Martz for their HC position.
