Utah-USU Gameday open thread

Utah Utes at Utah State Aggies, Sep 13, 2008 6:00 PM MDT

Keep it rollin', Utah!

Gameday
Utah Utah State

Quick Look

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

6:00 MST

Romney Stadium, Logan, Utah

TV: KJZZ

Radio: KALL 700

Game Preview

What to expect when Utah has the ball: I expect a fairly balanced attack with Utah working the Aggie secondary pretty well, but also dominating on the ground. This defense might be the least effective the Utes will face this season and they will take advantage of that all game long. Expect a ton of points and a lot of yards.

What to expect when Utah State has the ball: Utah State most likely will start Diondre Borel at quarterback and with a mediocre -- at best -- running game, look for them to test Utah through the air. The success of their offense will rely on how well Borel takes to the starting role. My guess is that he won't see much production, but you never know.

How Utah wins: Don't overlook the Aggies and play solid in all four quarters. There is no excuse for this game being close and if it is, it's because the Utes didn't come to play. They should win if they play up to their talent level and not down to Utah State's.

Lucky rockin' a 2-0 start!

Air Force wins, defeating Houston.

They opened up a pretty big lead and had to hang on for the 3 point win. Next week’s game looks tough, especially since it’s on the road.

TCU and Stanford are tied at 14-14 in the 3rd quarter. A fairly low scoring game, but we’ll see if the Frogs can pull it out.

Of course, BYU and UCLA about to kick off. GO BRUINS!

Unrelated to the MWC

But ND has jumped out really quick on Michigan.

UCLA hasn't even shown up

Coupled with Michigan’s play against Notre Dame, this hasn’t been the day I wanted.

Not related to the game

but I think USC is getting way too overhyped.
Their first win just went down the drain (UConn 45, UVa 10), and OSU has looked like crap this year (Ohio and now USC). Their schedule & play does nothing to show they deserve a number 1 spot. Maybe coming into today, not after. And OSU doesn’t deserve to be ranked.

True - but if not USC at #1, then who?

Georgia didn’t look to good against the other USC today.
Oklahoma looks good so maybe them.
Missouri is looking good, but then again Illinois posted 40+ on them so Mizzou’s defense doesn’t look all that good.
LSU and Florida haven’t played anyone particularly good.

by Ute in DC on Sep 13, 2008 9:32 PM MDT up reply actions

Resume ranking

which I favor… I might have to go with Mizzou or Oklahoma, especially with ECU struggling today.
Or maybe not… I’ll have to go relook at every thing tomorrow/Monday.

Of course, my 1 (ECU), 2 (UCLA), 3 (Cal) ended with a barely won, loss & loss. Florida didn’t play… Utah was playing USU (and suffers from Michigan’s loss)… so yeah, probably Missouri or Oklahoma.

Just got back from the game.

Really good win by the Utes. I mean, 58 points? Yikes, didn’t expect that!

But the best news of the night? UNLV BEATING ASU!

Agreed.

Huge win.
Almost helps overcome the disappointment of the Michigan-BYU combo.
Meh… I guess while the Michigan win drops a bit in value, the UNLV one shoots up.
