Oregon State, next week's opponent, stuns #1 USC

A huge victory for the Beavers tonight, as they defeated USC at home 27-21. It was the program's first victory over a top-ranked team since defeating the Trojans 3-0 in 1967. That USC squad was led by one of the greatest backs of all time, OJ Simpson.

What does this mean for Utah? Well if they take care of business Saturday , as they should, they'll enter next Thursday's game playing the team fresh off the biggest upset of the season. Does it scare you? Pump you up even more? Thursday's game just got a lot more interesting.

Changes the outlook of the game for sure

Does it scare me now? Damn right it does, but I know our Utes can pull it off. It pumps me up more than anything! But no looking ahead, that’s a killer for this team. Weber State is all they should be thinking about.

Agreed about Weber State.

Don’t look ahead. We’ve seen D-II teams stick close to other MWC teams (Cal-Poly/SDSU, Sacramento State/Colorado State, North Dakota State/Wyoming)… and the Utes really don’t need that.

As for Oregon State… yeah, it makes our match-up next week even more exciting. The Utes do have homefield though, which will be nice… and I still think the Utes are a better team (though the Beavers have something big to build off of now).

By the way… Penn State #1 now (provided they beat Illinois). No questions asked, in my opinion.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Let's be fair here..

SDSU, CSU and Wyoming are all pretty mediocre to bad teams. The Wildcats aren’t even a great team at their level, let alone when they’re going up against a team like Utah.

Yes there is a chance of a let down, but I don’t expect them to give Utah a game. I would be surprised if it’s close.

Weber State is 3-1

and have a good chance at being competitive for a conference title.

McBride has now built the foundations for 2 programs in his career.

Weber State should not be a problem, we need to not beat ourselves. Anything less than a blowout is a disappointment. Our second string late in the game should be excited to play and show their skills to an inferior opponent. Utah needs to take care of one game at a time.

I really think the Oregon State win is a big help for us. With our success and the success of the conference over PAC 10 teams our players could have been lulled into thinking Oregon State is less of a challenge then they are. Now they will have every reason to prepare for them and be ready.

I fully believe Utah is the better team but it would be nice if they get hit with the emotional high we got last year after UCLA and pull what we did against UNLV.

At start of season . . .

The OSU game bothered me more than any other. I thought they’d be extremely good and that we’d beat Michigan and as a consequence everyone in Utah would be talking about BCS busting and not OSU. That is an extremely good football team that after being smacked a couple times feels it has something to prove. I really counted this as our fist loss this season. Our lessened ranks onthe D line do not help as OSU has perhaps the finest O line we will face this year.

Not to mention we have a short week to prepare for them. Hope everyone on the Ute team recalls how they manhandled us last year and plays with an eye toward redemption.

Hoping I am wrong.

Personally

I think the Beavers are not a good team at all. I think they got a few breaks in that game. Plus USC couldn’t stop Rodgers. Our defense held Air Force, the second highest rushing yards per game, to only 57 yards. So I think if OSU beats us, it will be through the air. I don’t see it happening tho. Awesome win for OSU over USC tho. Also, crazy to see Florida go down.

GO UTES!!
