Utes amble through victory

This is really the most disappointed I've been of Utah this season. I try not to complain after wins, but tonight's victory felt hollow. The defense really played uninspired ball tonight, allowing Weber's quarterback to kill Utah's supposed solid secondary and the team just did not play to their potential. The score should not have been this close and expect the Utes to get penalized for it in the polls.

Yes, it's a win and Utah is 5-0, but if they play this poorly Thursday, they will get abused by the Beavers.

Thoughts? Am I being too negative here?

Yeah a bit

Considering the last 2 WSU touchdowns came against Utah’s reserves, the score isn’t very accurate of the first three quarters. Utah wanted to rest up for OSU and they were able to. Yes if they play like this again OSU they lose, but of course, they won’t play like this against OSU.

Ok.

I just expected Utah to roll.

This is why I hate FCS games. You’re damned if you do, damned if you don’t. We need to get them off the schedule ASAP. I don’t care if it’s Weber, SUU or Idaho State. They’re all trash games.

You won't hear any arguments from me on that

I hate, hate, hate FCS games. They are boring to watch. The players do not take them seriously. They are like a scrimmage only the mistakes are shown for 45,000 people (or more if it’s on TV), but the fan still has to pay full price.

Yup!

Even the worst of the worst D 1-A teams are better than an FCS opponent, because at least they’re still in your division.

I would have much rather rolled Toledo or Ohio or another MAC team tonight than played Weber.

Agreed

I know it’s an in-state school and an ex-Coach and all, but still… Even if the fans want to watch the team win on Homecoming, there has to be a better opponent than a I-AA team.

The Utah Jazz. The Jazz... duh.
The best NBA team in Utah... no doubts about it!
Playing For Pride. Pirates, Utes, Panthers, and more...
Because, in the end, only one team can "win it all".

Three things...

1) Maybe we took a bit of a week off and didn’t prepare like we do for a FBS team but more like a BYE week.

2) Maybe we looked past WSU towards Oregon State, especially with their recent victory.

3) At least the game was not on TV anywhere so no one saw the performance.

4) Looking at past schedules we only schedule 3 FCS every 20 years, that is not too bad.
