Around SBN: College Football Preseason Top 25 Rankings

Dirk Facer reporting that Paul Kruger will announce he's going pro at a press conference tomorrow.

This is a huge loss on defense, especially with what is the probable loss of Sean Smith, who'll most likely join Kruger in going to the NFL.

But that's the game of success. Good luck, Kruger.

That's too bad.

I think he’d gain from coming back a year, but you can’t ask a guy to pass up $1m or more to play football for a living.

And you don’t replace a guy like Kruger, but we’ve got a lot of DE talent if our DTs stay healthy. Misi, Aiono, the new recruit we stole from CSU, Shelby, etc.

Everyone hates a pink-shirt-wearing communist.

ouch

it’s a big loss

with him i think we would be a top 10 defense next season

without him we are good but not elite

Not to mention...

the fact that this will seriously hurt our pre-season ranking. I’ll be surprised if we’re even ranked now — especially if Sean Smith goes too.

Oh well, we didn’t need a preseason ranking to achieve what we did this year.

Does anybody know

anything about Kruger’s younger brother David? I had heard he was planning to play for the U as well. Actually from what I heard, he put up better numbers in high school than Paul.

David was a freshman last year at the U

He may be going on a mission now, but as far as I know he has not made a public announcement.
Joe Kruger has given a verbal commit to play at the U starting in 2010.
