Smith Declares For Draft

via the wwl

Star-divide

Smith tied for the Mountain West Conference lead with five interceptions. He helped slow down Alabama receiver Julio Jones in the Utes' Sugar Bowl victory.

Smith hopes to run in the high 4.3 or low 4.4 40-yard dash at the combine in February.

Another blow to our defense, though I think this one was more expected. As far as I've seen, he's a 1st day pick right now (as is Kruger).

Projections

Smith projects as no lower than a second-round pick. His size is nearly perfect for CB or S, his speed and covering ability make him a potential contributor early in his rookie season.

Kruger, I think, is no lower than a second round pick. He has the speed to get around some big tackles on the pass rush. It’ll be interesting to see how he’s used as a rookie. Will he be a pass-rusher? Will he be used mostly in run situations? Will he eventually be an OLB?

Good luck to both.
