Final BlockU 2008 BlogPoll Ballot

Ah the memories.

What a season to finally be involved in the rankings.

Where I ranked Utah should not come as a surprise.

Hopefully you agree and if you don't, well, I think it's too late to change, anyway.

So here it is, Block U's final BlogPoll ballot for the 2008 season.

I'll just add one last thing, voting Utah #1 was pretty sweet and emotional. It's just a shame this ballot doesn't mean much outside of the interwebs.

Oh well, it's been a fun ride and I hope to be doing this again next year!

I lied, another last thing, Utah should be ranked 2nd in the final poll.

I understand that you put Utah #1...

But putting TCU at number 5 is absolutely ludicrous. They were soundly beaten by Oklahoma, who is clearly a MUCH better team, and came it at #6. Along with a BYU and Missouri teams that had no quality wins all year long. Oregon State #10, below a Penn State team that beat them by 35?

I can't get into ranking teams solely based on who they beat ahead of them.

Or I’d put Oregon State ahead of USC.

As for TCU, I think they’re the best 11-2 team in the country. Fifth might be a bit high, but their lone loss in the final 8 games came by 3 points to Utah, who I ranked first.

It's one thing...

To win a close game at home (as OSU did). It’s another thing to get beat soundly by 25.

Maybe so, but I think Oregon State rebounded quite well after that loss.

And while you have to look at the entire season, to me, that game looks more like a fluke than anything else. Oregon State finished strong, as did Oregon. Yet I don’t hear you protesting the Ducks ranking. ;)
