Utes win the Sugar Bowl, finish 13-0!

…but I know who I’m putting at #1 on my final BlogPoll ballot. Congratulations on both the win and the season. The Utes are a hell of a good football team.

There was some talk of post game excuses from UA fans if y’all won and it all centered on Andre Smith and the O-line. That hurt us for sure, but you beat our D and that was unexpected. There is no way for excuse makers to explain that. Great game plan, great execution, great win. I’m drinking Scotch in the hopes that enough inebriant will keep me from waking up yelling “#88!”. Congratulations.

Well done to the Utes!

What an entirely satisfying win. First, hats off to Bama fans (most of) whom have been nothing but classy. That win was the greatest ever. I have never enjoyed a game more than that. We dominated in every way possible. I mentioned before the game that I thought the loss of Andre Smith would mean more than most thought and it sure did. But like The Heffalump said, we beat their D. No excuses, no whining from any one. Let’s enjoy this one!!

I’m with you in the National Champion talk. The TDS won it in 84 because they were the only undefeated team. So I think we are the National Champs! Great game ’Bama, Utah deserves respect!

This is my first post on this blog after being a reader for quite a while. I am a USC student from Orange County, California but I have been a Ute and Jazz fan for years. Of course at USC we are spoiled with a storied program filled with traditions and Rose Bowl wins, including yesterday over Penn State (Fight On Trojans!).
That being said, as I sat watching this game today in Alta, Utah wearing my 2005 Fiesta Bowl Ute shirt, I realized just how much this win means to “The U” and I want to say to her students and Alums congratulations. As fans we are able to join in your joy but for you, who have put your heart in soul into the school, I understand this game is the culmination of years of loyalty, pain, and exuberance and is one you will remember for the rest of your lives.
After I celebrate this year’s wins in the Rose and Sugar Bowls I will begin the wait for next year in the hope that USC will be able to match the success UTAH this year and complete an undefeated season culminating, hopefully for us, with a national championship win.
However, this year is YOUR year. Regardless of who wins the national title game this year 2008-2009 will always be the year of the Utes in college football. The University of Utah has made a statement that there is a new team to be reckoned with in the West.

Congrats on a great season and thank you for representing the MWC so well. While watching the Utes destroy the Tide I couldn’t help but think “Utah should be the National Champs”. I hope the AP voters make the right decision and vote the only undefeated FBS team number 1.
