Wyoming-#19 Utah Game Day Open Thread
Wyoming Cowboys at Utah Utes, Oct 31, 2009 6:00 PM MDT
Sorry for the lack of updates, I was on vacation the last week. But I'm back and ready to go just in time for Utah's Halloween showdown with the Wyoming Cowboys!
What to expect when Utah has the ball: What we've come to expect. I don't anticipate the Utes to change their gameplan for this game. They'll probably run the ball for a good amount of plays, but the passing game will certainly play a role in how the offense moves the ball down field.
What to expect when Wyoming has the ball: Wyoming's offense ranks second to last in the conference in points per game and yards per game. They aren't very good with the ball and when they do have it, they're more inclined to run - yet even there they struggle (only fifth in rushing yards per game). So expect a very sluggish offense that has difficulty moving the ball.
How Utah wins: Find some momentum on the offensive end. This won't be a shootout, so if the Utes lose, it's because their offense turned the ball over a half-dozen or so times. Really, though, Utah shouldn't lose this one. The Cowboys might be improving, but they're still a long way from contending against the likes of Utah. If they somehow pull out the win, it'll be because Utah melted down themselves.
Lucky G. O'Utes is ready for the black out!

Thoughts......or lack there of
So I was watching some highlights from last season on Youtube and the thought crossed my mind, " I miss Corbin". I am not sure if that is fair to Terrance but Louks certainly played a very important role in last season even if his touches were limited they provided a depth that we seem to be lacking this year. He allowed us to have a larger play book and change pace when we needed a spark. I haven’t read anything about his loss at Utah since the actual transfer. I know the coaches marked him as third and really there is no sense in the “what-if” scenario but I can’t help but wonder “what-if” we had Louks…

We miss the Louks package...
But he wasn’t going to stay and play QB just to run a few plays a game out of that package.
Unfortunately, he also wasn’t good enough for the starting role. Cain is a more consistent and better QB than Louks ever could be here at Utah. He was best in limited play…so had he stuck around and been named Utah’s starter, I’m questioning whether the Utes are 6-1 right now.

You lose a playmaker like Louks it is a loss, regardless how limited his role was going to be. But I doubt our record would be any different with him.

I think it could be worse...
Certainly not better.
Maybe the same…but I’d have more concerns. I think Cain has more potential than Louks.

I'd love to dominate from start to finish...
But I’m not expecting it. Mostly because this team has yet to do that. Make that change, though, Utah!

I actually think they will
I think Utah will dominate from start to finish I just have that feeling that the D holds wyo under 200 yards offense and rojo creates some turnovers, while cain has fun regaining his ground game and utes easily win
utah 38
wyo 10

I don't see Wyoming scoring much...
So either it’s going to be Utah putting up the points in a blowout or a defensive struggle like last week.

I am looking for a dominant game from the utes as well. I have a lot of doubts on Wyoming, if we jump on them we should cruise the rest of the game.

it was not pretty but it should be enough to get to 14th in the bcs standings.
okie state got crushed and va. tech has three losses. jazzyute did cain get injured? or was he just ineffective and jordan wynn came in. could not get game on tv.

Took too many sacks me thinks...
Offense was extremely sluggish in the first half. The change came and they found some life.

About Cain.
I really think coach Whitt put Wynn in because he wanted a spark in the offense.

I love the fact that we moved the ball well....
In the Air Force game we couldn’t move the ball to save our lives. We still suck in the red zone though. If we don’t fix our RZ woes before the TCU game, our luck in winning close games will hit a brick wall.
