Help Get Boise State a Big Game

Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011. He can hardly get his calls returned. Not by the SEC. Not by the Big Ten. Not by anyone.

Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.

So far, no one has bit.

Star-divide

Boise State is looking to fill September 3rd, 2011.  In a story on Yahoo Sports, BSU is making the above offer, ESPN is pushing the game, and guess who has an open date?

Nebraska.  You may recall this comment from last year included in the following quote:

Last year Utah went 13-0 yet didn’t have a chance to play for the BCS title. At a Congressional subcommittee hearing University of Nebraska chancellor and BCS figurehead Harvey Perlman was asked what the Utes could’ve done differently.

“They could have played the schedule Nebraska did,” Perlman said.

Well, the Nebraska AD is Tom Osborne.  His email addy is ahackbart@huskers.com .

So, do the MidMajors a favor and politely ask coach Osborne to help his Huskers open the season with a bang by scheduling the Boise State Broncos.

alabama should take them up on their offer

the last time boise state ventured into sec country is when they were hammered by georgia bulldogs. the crimson tide might be a little gun shy b/c we put an azz kicking on bama in the sugar bowl.

Saban

Is not the kind of guy who gets gun shy, he’ll play anyone anytime.

not to be a wise azz but bama's ooc schedule include's north texas, florida international

the usual two sunbelt softies and add chattonogga for their third ooc gam. yes they did beat an over-rated va. tech team that will lose at least 4 games. schedules are made years in advance but bama contiually beats up on the sunbelt conf. i’m not impressed. there best win is over lsu where they had two very favorable calls that would have changed the whole game. the only reason les miles did not say anything was b/c urban meyer was fined 30,000. peace.

Yes

But unlike SEC teams who scheduled all patsies, they started last year with Clemson, this year with V Tech, and in 2011 they have Penn State on the road.

Not exactly USC’s schedule but better than some of the others.

I understand...

wanting to stick it the the BCS schools that pull this shit. However the last thing I want to do is help Boise St. with anything.

They want a “big game” on their schedule so they can have a better argument to get into the BCS. As far as I’m concerned that BCS spot the next two years is already taken. By our Utes.

Go suck an egg Boise St.

Maybe

But so is Joe Bob State, and BSU is bringing ESPN’s backing for nationally relevised game—they’ll make more off this game playing BSU than they would off of Cal Poly’s Hairdresing college for 800k.

True.

But does Utah ask for a million to play BCS teams?

by JazzyUte on Nov 10, 2009 1:35 PM MST up reply actions

Isn't that what we are getting for Notre Dame next year?

That is the going rate for paying a team to travel to your home.

How much would it cost to get another perenial top 15 team to visit another stadium with no return date?

Well.......

We DID get a 800,000 pay day for playing Michigan in the big house Jazzy…..

If I were a big name team....

I would take BSU up on their offer just so I could squish them and show everyone they are not God’s gift to football. (unless of course they beat me and made me eat crow)

Why help boise state?

Boise State fans are the absolute worst in the planet. I have never met a group of people who are more arrogent and just straight up ass holes to people if you don’t like their precious broncos. The reason no one wants to play them is because boise is a bunch of whimps and won’t leave their MAJOR advantage home blue turf. Boise wants to be mentioned with the Utah, and TCU’s of the college football world, join a better conference, play at sec, big xii, big ten schools home fields. Utah did it. Went and played Michigan, and next year they’re playing at Notre Dame. So don’t say it can’t be done. If they’re not willing to do so, then they need to shut the heck up and just deal with the no respect they get. Because that’s what they deserve.

Well . . .

They are offering to play anyone at any location for that date, and they prefer a major power.

If you hate them that much, you might consider inundating the Alabama Athletic department with pleas to them to fill their slot with the Broncos, then root like all get out for the good people from Tidesville to stick it to them.

I mean, root for the Broncos or against them, everyone should be behind this, in my personal opinion.

boise state has only sold 1600 share's at 100 dollars. that is not a good ipo by any standards

yes i am obsessive, obnoxious, in your face and all about covering the spread. those are my good qualities.

i think the indiana hoosiers would be a good fit

it would take the team with the best covering ats in the last 13 years vs the team with the worst covering the ats over the same time period. bsu is over 55 games over the spread vs indiana’s 48 under the spread. the gambling public would have a field day. lol.
