Uh...I think there might be a basketball game tonight

Utah's season begins against Idaho tonight at the Huntsman Center. Unfortunately, with the hype of the TCU game, it's kind of fallen by the wayside. That hasn't been my intentions, since I like this blog to be more than just football (and it generally is), however, it is hard getting into the basketball mindset on the eve of the biggest football game of the year.

With that said, I'm excited to see what they do. Last season was a treat (up until the NCAA Tournament) and by all accounts, this will probably be Jim Boylen's first true rebuilding year (I guess you can technically say his first season was a rebuilding one, but...).

Because of this, I hesitate to say the Utes should beat Idaho. I remember last year's season opening loss to Southwest Baptist. So, nothing is a given. With that said, the Running Utes should win.

But if they don't, will anyone know/care/see it? Hopefully the latter is true (well seeing a win would be more ideal, right?) and you're up at the Huntsman Center tonight to watch the start of the 2009-10 basketball season.

Go watch some basketball and get the TCU-Utes game off your mind for a few hours.

Wee!

It also doesn't help...

that the damn game isn’t even on TV. I can’t make it to the Huntsman Center tonight, so I guess that means I’ll be listening on the radio. Stupid Mountain.

I think Cyphers and Tavita really step it up this year and take a lot of playing time away from Drca. Also, watch out for Chris Hines, and Carlon Brown must improve his shooting. This team could be very guard heavy this year.

I don't even know what to expect...

I already burned out on the Jazz. I thought they’d be at least better than last year and they’re worse.

My basketball IQ is generally really good (for years, it was the sport I followed the most…even more than football), but I guess I’m rusty, because I can’t even begin to know what will happen this year with the Utes.

Well you better find out and let us know...

b/c I have no idea. I’ve always struggled to follow NCAA Basketball (until March Madness), and the football team + the crappiness of the Jazz has me thinking this isn’t the year I get started…
