Holy War Moments: 2004 GameDay comes to Salt Lake City
2004 marked the first time big-time football had officially arrived on the University of Utah campus. ESPN GameDay, which had never visited the state, went live from the corner of Rice-Eccles Stadium hours before the Holy War to end all Holy Wars (or something like that).
The interesting aspect of this Holy War is the fact the game itself really took a backseat to all the hoopla of GameDay and busting the BCS. Doing it against the Cougars obviously added to that luster, but it was also very secondary to the situation.
2008 was great and probably a more enjoyable Holy War than 2004 because the Utes actually beat a good BYU team. However, nothing can top GameDay's visit to Salt Lake and the moments prior to and after Utah's win.
