All I know...
is if we get beat by those guys jumping in the pool with all their clothes on, then something is really wrong with the world.
Keys to the game:
1: Turnovers and penalties
Make no mistake boys, last years beat-down had everything to do with takeaways. something inside tells me Max Hall will play a lot better this round furthermore, the teams are a lot more evenly matched up this year than most. The Utes will need to execute their game plan and not beat themselves with costly mistakes and stupid penalties.
2. Stop Harvey Unga and Dennis Pitta
Utah has been a lot more susceptible to the run this year as such, the Utes will need to step up their game and slow down the beast that is Harvey Unga (injured or not, this guy can play). even though BYU is a team that lives and dies by the pass, their run game is executed well can control the tempo, keep the defense honest , eat up game clock and bottom line: cause lots of headaches.
As for Pitta, the Utes need to keep their eye on this guy, Even though Austin Collie is gone, PItta is just as much as a threat (especially on underneath routes). Like with Collie last year, the Utes don’t necessarily need to shut them out completely, just prevent them from making huge plays that swing momentum in the Cougars favor.
3 Stay focused
Because this is the rivalry game, the Utes need to remain focused and not get caught up in the emotions of the game (especially since it’s in Provo). Just like the TCU game, this match up will be a huge test for Jordan Wynn. In short, the Utes just need to show up and play their game.
4 DON"T PLAY A PREVENT DEFENSE AT THE END
I just had to throw this one in. If this game should come down to the wire, The Utes must not lose another heart breaker in the fourth. If you boys have a chance to put the game in the bag, finish them off!
I’m so pumped for this game, even though this game has no MWC title implications, there is still plenty to play for. We need a win to give us momentum in our bowl and also give us a jump start on next year. I want 2009 to be a good year, thus we need a victory over the TDS.
GO UTES!!!!
#1...
is huge. This team has shot themselves in the foot many times this year with penalties and fumbles. It needs to stop today. I expect Jordan to make a bad read or two and probably end up with a pick, but if the Utes can limit it to just that then I like our chances.

lets be confident. we are going to win by 1 point or 21 points
all i want for xmas is 2 big wins over byu and their eventual bowl opponent.

Wynn's
Rel baptism by fire. So glad he played the TCU game, get a little grit in his craw for the Cougar fans.
Not only that he played, but played okay.
He didn’t look bad at all in that game. Had he, I might be a lot more nervous than I am right now!
Yup, he actually played well in that game. Hung up plenty of points on the best D in the conference (and one of the best in the nation).
But we know our O will score, and we know their O will score, but what I really want is for the LB core to step up and have that dominating game that everyone has been expecting them to have.
2 picks, 5 sacks, 7 TFL combined line for the LB core will do nicely…

lets get this game started
the tcu game should have toughen him up, jordan wynn. he will not see the same speed that tcu had. byu is much slower. lets hope he capitalizes on it.

Wow…in HD you can see that Todd has a combover!

What was that last penalty? I don’t get what Key OR Cox did that warranted a personal foul?

First have thoughts: Wynn is going to cost us this game.
Which shouldn’t be a surprise because he’s a true freshman. But our offense is awful.
The defense is just doing enough, but I have a bad feeling the Cougars are going to pull away in the second half. Hope I’m wrong. We get the ball back to start the 2nd half and I think we need a score.
momentum
is in byu’s favor. the first few series looked good for utah, big stops, huge hits and a few good drives. byu saved themselves with only allowing 3 points on those first possessions. its been an ugly game with the refs tossing flags for weak personal foul calls. but the game might get uglier in the 2nd half, especially on the scoreboard.
Yeah.
I thought we looked really good on the first two drives. Should have been an easy 14-0 and if that happens, we’re probably rolling right now.
I hope we get back to what was working on those first two drives – but right now, it’s looking like the Cougars could roll. Only down 7, yet I feel like we’re down 17.
Geez
Saw Wynn miss three deep balls on guys.
Need to change it up Utah.
That interception was terrible.
the mtn in hd
finally a good picture to look at. but the production still sucks. few replays and sub par commentary, especially from the combover. i havent seen many ute games this year but he was touted as a good deep ball guy by these commentators? havent see it yet, even with the ute receivers behind byu guys all day
cain?
Might be a good idea for a change of pace

Yeah, well, our OC screwed us on that last drive.
1st and 5 and we can’t even get a first down.
That might be the game unless we can get a quick stop.
