Utes roll Cal for ninth straight bowl win

It might not be the Sugar Bowl. However, it's almost as sweet! Okay, not really. But it was a good victory for a team dying to win a memorable game.

I am going to have more on this game later, but boy was this an enjoyable game. Maybe of the most enjoyable bowl games of recent memory (not counting the win over 'Bama).

And my Ute brothers, Jordan Wynn is money!

Congrats!

3-0 for the MWC is terrific.

I grew up in Wyoming and am a Cowboy lifer, but there’s certainly no hesitation for me to cheer for the conference brothers – and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. All it took was the BCS for us to get along (so to speak). Who knew?

But a great win. Utah is certainly a gamer during bowl season.

It's crazy how money the Utes are.

We’re only two wins away from tying the NCAA record for most bowl wins in a row (11). I think that’s definitely doable.

Hi hooper!

Merry Christmas, congrats yourself the Vols had a very good year, they look only to improve.

Thanks. And Merry Christmas to you!

The Vols have been a wild ride, but I’ll leave that aside. It’s Wyoming’s/BYU’s/Utah’s/MWC’s time in the sun right now!

Cal fan here

Just wanted to say congratulations. You guys were the better team last night. Enjoy the victory and please keep on winning so we don’t look bad for losing to you. Heh.

Tied with USC for 2nd longest bowl streak in NCAA history

Fitting since we started our streak with a win over USC. They accomplished this from 1922-1944.

FSU is the only team ahead of us with an 11 game steak from 1985 through 1996, ended by Florida in a rare Sugar Bowl rematch.

If you count consecutive bowls without a loss their streak extended to 14, with a tie preceding that streak and two wins before that.

We actually started it against Fresno in 1999.

1999-2009 hasn’t been bad at all:

1999: W over Fresno
2001: W over SC
2003: W over So. Miss
2005: W over Pitt in the Fiesta
2005: W over G. Tech
2006: W over Tulsa
2007: W over Navy
2009: W over Alabama in the Sugar
2009: W over Cal

Only Fresno was an ugly win.

The Future is bright!

The Venison pate and Salmon are out (and quite good if I say so myself), the scallop chowder is glorious and I’ve made a perfect ass of meself in public already. Looks like another great Christmas!

Merry Christmas all, happy new year, and a glorious season to pine over and look for a great next year.

Excellent point made during he broadcast next year, the more Utah plays in later bowls, the more practice time they have, the better their younger kids get . . .

No wonder the rich get richer. It’s not only the players, it’s the amount of time you get to develop that talent.
