Mountain West players selected in the NFL draft
The Mountain West had by far the best draft of any of the non-BCS conferences, however, no players were selected in the first round. Utah's Paul Kruger was the highest player to go at 57 -- he was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens. Sean Smith, who was a possible, though unlikely, first rounder, was drafted by the Miami Dolphins with the 61st pick. Brice McCain went in the sixth round to Texas, while Freddie Brown was drafted by Cincinnati in the 7th.
Utah quarterback Brian Johnson was not drafted, which wasn't a big surprise, but Louie Sakoda being passed over was, at least to me. I thought he would go, though I expect him to quickly sign with a team in the coming days.
After the jump is a list of those drafted...

Kickers
Rarely get rafted but good ones sign immediately.

Normally that's true
But there were three kickers and two punters drafted in this draft. I wonder if Louie’s leg strength is causing teams to avoid him. He’s not going to handle kickoffs, but you would think a punter/FG kicker combo could get a look. I’m sure someone will sign him.
Everyone hates a pink-shirt-wearing communist.

Yeah, we'll see.
I have a feeling that played a role.
Hopefully he can find a team soon.

Signings
Sakoda signed with the Chargers.
Casteel signed with the Browns.
Godfrey signed with the Bills.
Johnson signed with the Packers.
Or at least they’re close to signing.

Johnson
Was brought in so they could throw in drills in camp. People up there don’t expect him to stick.
We shall see though.

I wouldn't mind Johnson coming in as a GA and working his way up the coaching ladder.
A lot like Morgan Scalley. I think Johnson has it when it comes to coaching.

Spot on
Me as well, he’s a coach. I’d love ot se him stick enopugh at a team to pick up a few htings and impress the kids, then come back and GA.
He can teach kids to stay focussed, mentally tough. That’s a key gig.
