Fall camp day 13 links
Corbin Louks is gone, Terrance Cain is right on Jordan Wynn's ass and now there is speculation we might not have a starting quarterback until the week of Utah State.
Who said fall camp lacked intrigue?
Seriously, folks, this is turning out to be one of the most exciting and unknown fall camps in Utah's history and I just hope it doesn't mean we're in for some troubles this season.
Anyway, lots of news out of the day, but Louks' decision dominated the discussion. This has probably zero impact on Utah's offense this season, since he was being groomed more for the defense after the coaches demoted him to 3rd behind Wynn & Cain. Of course, it's never good to have upheaval in the program - stability is best.

How the world has changed
Well, lots of interesting stuff.
First, it’s insane to see Utah football getting so much press, including national press, preseason. Amazing. When I was there we simply did not receive any national attention, and local coverage amounte dto a weekly roundup of how camp was going.
The Beadles story is really terrific, worthy read.
The Vegas Bowl?
What a shaft that has become. Unless it’s expanded and attracts a major opponent, bag it. Time for the other bowls to forsake automatic tie ins and start hunting for our excellent, and interesting, teams to be matchups for their quality opponents. They tried that modeled on their succes with creating the Holiday bowl for the WAC, but guess what? When they create dteh Holiday bowl some damned fine teams were being left home because there were fewer bowls, especially in venues teh size of San Diego.

Yup. The Vegas Bowl sucks...
Our champion should not be playing a 7-5 Pac Ten team.
The current Holiday Bowl would be the best fit, but we can’t even peruse that. It kind of sucks Utah might go from playing in the Sugar Bowl to the New Mexico Bowl or Boise State Truckers College Bowl (or whatever they call it).
At least in 2005 we played a top-25 G-Tech team in the Emerald Bowl. We don’t even have that one, now.

Note That
It’s extremely cool that we have three Lombardi trophy watch list players. Tennessee, as an example, has none. BYU has two, TCU three, Alabama 4, but BYU’s opponent in the upcoming opener?
Seven. Seven men named to the watchlist for being considered one of the finest lineman/linebackers in college football. “Ouch daddy, it hurts when they snap the ball.”
See it here.
Oregon has none, Boise State 1, San Jose State two.

If the Cougars' line doesn't grow up fast, Hall might take a licking...
And it could throw them off their game the entire year.

Yep, and
Counting their injuries, they are hating it just about now.
