The Morning Blitz: Daily Utah links

It's Terrance Cain.

Or not. We won't know until Thursday.

Kyle Whittingham announced yesterday he won't release who's starting the USU game until, well, the game. Odds are it's Cain, but you never know with Whittingham. He does say this isn't to throw Gary Andersen and Utah State off their game planning, rather he just wants the players to focus on the upcoming game - something that may not happen if they're openly outed as the starter.

We'll see if this works.

Smart move by Whitt?

QB

might as well wait till the game to name the starter….we will all assume it’s cain, i mean why go through all the trouble after initially naming the freshman as the starting QB? we lost louks in the process. i don’t know if we would have lost him regardless, but it still sucks to lose a play maker.

It seems very likely it's Cain.

And Whittingham is only refusing to name a starter because he doesn’t want the focus to turn to that instead of the game planning.

I don’t see how Wynn gets the nod after playing with the second team through most of the lead-up to the USU game.

Louisville Starter Named

Louisville quarterback Justin Burke (from N.C. State), who won the Cardinals’ starting job this week.

Stewart Mandel expects him to make an impact.

I think Louisville is the most unknown on Utah's schedule.

I’ve said a few times it’s hard for me to wrap my idea around them not taking a step forward this season.

They’re still only two years removed from the best season in school history. That has to count for something, right?

Yeah

They should not be as bad as some have said.

It was like Utah: have your best season, of course you will have a drop off after that. This does not mean you now suck.

Well their drop off was bad.

Nothing like we’ve seen here – especially since they returned a good amount of talent in 2007 and tanked.

I still don’t think Kragthorpe makes it beyond this year, though.

Noooope

Dead man walking unless he wins like 8 and gets to the Stanly Toilets half-assed bowl.
