this is my predicted order of mwc teams for next year

1. utah

2.tcu

3. airforce

4.wyoming

5.byu

6. sdsu

7.csu

8.n.m

9.unlv

i like utah chances b/c we have two qb's coming back with fbs experience. that is the most important factor after coaching stability. that is also why i have byu in fifth b/c i do not think enough of nelson and who knows if jake heaps can live up to the hype. byu is sure putting alot of pressure on a kid who just finished high school if he gets the starting job. tcu brings back most of the offens but losses three of thier best dp's hughes and washington are gone. i love air force's qb and they bring alot of their team back. wyioming just need two get two juco wr's and then i think they could become like the texas tech of the mwc. they do have a coach who comes from the big 12.

I think BYU's position depends on Unga.

If Unga comes back, plus their entire OL, the lack of an experienced QB won’t hurt them as much and they’ll stay in the 1-3 range (probably 3rd). If Unga is gone then they lose all of their weapons and they’ll be young enough to lose to AF or Wyoming or SDSU or UNLV and slip to 4th or 5th.

Keep in mind, however, that the top 4 teams (Utah, TCU, AF, BYU) each have some big holes to fill:

Utah: Returns 9/11 on offense (lose Beadles and Reed) but only 3/11 on Defense (Shelby, the DTs, and Burton).
TCU: Returns 8/11 on offense (loses two linemen and their RB) and 6/11 on Defense, but lose Hughes and Washington.
BYU: Returns a lot of offense (7/11), but loses QB, top 2 TEs, and RB. On Defense returns 5/11 but loses a lot of playmakers/experience (Jorgensen, 4 of top 5 LBs, etc)
AF: Returns as much as the rest of the top 4 (6/11 on offense, but loses entire OL; 7/11 on defense, loses most of DL). Returns top rushers and QB, which is very important for running the triple option.

So it’s hard to say who is the most loaded. TCU returns 14 starters, Utah returns 12, BYU returns 12, AF returns 13. All of them lose playmakers (Utah loses Reed, Misi, Sly, RoJo; TCU loses Hughes, Washington, Turner, Sanders, Priest; BYU loses Hall, Unga, Pitta, Jorgensen; AF loses Moore and Garland, plus the entire OL).

It appears Utah and TCU have the easiest road (if Unga is leaving) because their losses should be well-covered by the talent in the program. BYU loses some things that won’t be easily replaced. Hall was a great QB, Unga was their best RB since Staley, there really isn’t much TE talent behind Pitta/George, who are both gone, and Jorgensen is their best DE in a long time. AF has to replace an entire OL, which will cause them problems even with a great QB/HB/FB.

agreed

i have confidence in coach whitt in finding defensive gems. your not counting kruger as one of the defensive losses? he did have playing time along with others. utah always seems to find a good defense b/c of whittingham’s defensive background. i’m confident he can do it again.

i'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. i was building a house, i don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. bang. "unforgiven"

I don't think Kruger is going anywhere.

Maybe Dave is leaving on a mission, but I haven’t heard anything. Even if he leaves, we have back two returning starters at DT (Siliga and Lei) plus the Snow boys. I did count Dave as a returning starter, but even if he leaves Siliga will be a returning starter (both started about the same number of games and Siliga actually had more tackles, 34 to 25).
