So, halfway through the 2010 - how you feelin'?

PrintI've got to admit, it's hard to believe we're already halfway through the 2010 season. Kind of sad. Not gonna lie.
But now the real season begins. This is what we expected, right? Back in August, I asked what Utah's record would be through six games and 59% of you said 6-0 (81% if you ignore the obvious trolling by BYU fans in that poll).
Well the Utes are 6-0 after six games.
Of course, with how easy their schedule was, anything less than 5-1 would have probably meant bad things in the coming weeks. Fortunately, that isn't the case and Utah has won every game they've been favored to win and most importantly - all but one has been in a blowout.
That's about to change.
The schedule is going to toughen up considerably after this week's game against Colorado State. In fact, it might be as hard as the first-half schedule was easy.
So how will the Utes do?

I'm feeling really optimistic
I feel this team has been getting better every week, although Wynn seemed to get a little loose with the ball last week. I think that will be tightened up and the team will continue to improve.
I’m drinking the red Kool-aid now. I think these guys have the talent and the drive to win out. Will they? I certainly hope so.
I keep accidentally eating my pets. Maybe I should get something less appetizing, like a cat instead of a Twinkie.

Really getting antsy for the TCU game...
I expect a battle against AFA, but I actually feel Utah will win by a comfortable margin and not in the final seconds like the last two years.
Then the fun begins. Anticipating ESPN College GameDay. Just wish the TCU game didn’t start so early.
air force lost their second leading rusher for the season. jared tew is out. tcu will do utah a favor....
and beat them down. i say we beat them by at least 14 points this year. the utah//csu line is 30 points. we are not going to cover that if wynn throws three picks. like i said, no team has gone 12-0 against the spread. i’m avoiding this point spread. we will win but csu did score more than us vs unlv so maybe they have gotten better as the season has gone on. we will win but i’m thinking 21 -24 points.

A little too close on the spread last week...
I probably wasn’t the only one freaking out at Utah during the 4th quarter…but I’m sure it was only those of us who put money down :-)
Spread is 30 points this week. Do I dare again?
I think we cover easily...
The team will be fired up. Expect Wynn to come out blazing after admitting he’s made some mistakes.
The only concern is weather. Forecast calls for temps in the 50s and showers.
rain would be a problem. coach whitt i bet would use the rb's more which eats up clock.

it started at 19 points too. see what happens is the wagering public pushes the ....
number up when they see a team like utah on a streak. i won’t be surprised if the utah // csu game hits 31 points but this game i won’t take. it’s always like this. it gets a little out of hand. btw, kansas had the best one year ats and they were 11-1 in either todd reesings first year as starter or second year. they did not cover vs mizzou that year.

What's wrong with 1:30 MT?
If Utah and TCU deliver a matchup of unbeatens as expected/hoped, the game will be talked about in every remaining half-time show in the nation.
Frankly, I don’t care if they play it at 3AM, I just want to see two undefeated teams take the field and Utah leave with a shiny happy W.

I like night games...
I think they have a bit more nastier attitude than day games. I don’t know why – it’s probably all fluff anyway. Plus for a big game like that, the more tailgating before the better.
Just like the atmosphere of a night game better.
TCU needs a day game...
…they’ll have a lot of drinking to do to erase the pain of a loss to Utah and the crush of their BCS hopes… (I hope)

Night games are fun

Punting Game
I watched Wyoming come with a full out block effort int eh 3rd or 4th quarter and they almost got there. Had they had athletes like AFA, TCU, and ND they would have block it. If Sellwood doesn’t get that ball out sooner I predict 2 more blocked punts before the end of the season and with the teams coming up that will mean points. Sellwood – a 3 step punt is going to sink us!

3 INT from the QB will sink us as well....
Whitt will have us dialed in. If we don’t beat ourselves we wont loose. I’m sure if you saw it so did the coaching staff. They’re our ace in the hole.

which is our best play imo. please stop hating on cain. we will need a guy who can avoid the pass rush of tcu. you guys said he is not a playmaker(cain). the slant was made for wr’s who are playmakers who are fast and quick. my two cents.

I BELIEVE WE ARE...
This team is Good, that we know. I BELIEVE this team will show themselves to be one of GREAT ones in Utah history. The first bump was PITT, ISU was conformation, and AF will be the proof. TCU at home is for all the marbles… Winner take all!

here is another thing in our favor. tcu plays air force the game befroe we do. they also play sdsu the game before we do.
tcu beats up on teams. we should thank them after we beat them and go 12-0.

This is the best offense/special teams we have ever had...
The D is great too…but I can’t elevate them over 2008. If we play mistake free football, we’re 12-0.

Glad we have one more pre-season game, and then a good ‘tune-up’ prior to TCU. The media hype hits full swing this Sunday. SI is already on board.

I think, outside one game, his decision making has been pretty damn good.
Granted, he’s only officially played four games – but still.
He has thrown too many INT's in the endzone...
…but I had a friend point out to me that on the first one, to Clifford (I think)…that he allowed himself to get pushed out of bounds, rather than fighting for the ball and at least batting it away.
That said, not the best idea to throw into double coverage. We need to settle for a FG in situations like that, rather than forcing the ball.
We also got to remember Wynn is a sophomore...
Who has yet to start a full 12 games.

Cain might not throw as many picks, but he isn't a better QB.
And I feel a helluva a lot more comfortable with Wynn under center than Cain.
