Brian Blechen, Shaky Smithson the focus of two articles

PrintToday's Baltimore Sun has a great article on Maryland native Shaky Smithson. It discusses his role on the current Utes and more importantly, his role as guardian for his younger brother, the current quarterback of the Highland Rams here in Salt Lake City. It's a great read and gives you an idea of how amazing of a person Shaky really is.
Also out today is an AP article on freshman Brian Blechen. It discusses his playing quarterback in high school, his move to the defense and his big play in overtime of the season opener against the Pittsburgh Panthers.
It's good to see some Utes getting much deserved publicity.

For what it’s worth, I grew up in a housing project in Salt Lake City. They do exist.
But no, I would never say I was ghetto.

Yes Utah has projects… but not whole communities where people would kill to get food in their mouth or clothes on their back.

I grew up in SLC
And I know things have changed, but there are parts of town I wouldn’t visit. And I remember when West High came to my lilly white school.
I think there’s some variety of culture in Utah. I have no clue where to find a good bagel with shmeer, but I moved.

Will Fish come to Utah to play?
It would be really cool if they could find a way for Fish to finish his HS at Highland and then come here to the U!!

Great Article
Shaky is an admirable athlete, and a more admirable young man. I bet his brother will get the kindest treatment from the staff, and he is likely to have athletic gifts as his older brother and guardian.
