Utes fifth in the BCS, TCU jumps Boise State
Huge shocker in this week's BCS rankings, as Utah leapfrogged Alabama and TCU jumped Boise State. That means Saturday's game could be for the third spot in the BCS rankings come next Sunday.
This is Utah's highest BCS ranking ever.

Awesome for us and for the non-AQ teams in general
Before this season, who ever would have imagined that 3 of the top 5 in the BCS standings would be non-AQ teams? Just insane.
So pumped for Saturday.
i think the people who vote on these things have come around. oregon jumps auburn, utah jumps bama.
two sec teams jumped? holy zhit. just beat tcu and the rest and if auburn or oregon stumbles it’s ours. the bcs ncg. i would help if pitt could win the rest of their games and iowa state goes 7-5 and baylor goes to the big 12 cg. i’m excited. it would be perfect if oregon state could beat oregon the last game of the season and i think the game is in corvalis?
Utah and Boise State: The two best teams in the nation. Both undefeated and with a combined 12-2 against the spread. Why do canadians stick together? The same reason why Chris Horodecki turned his body and face around in his first WEC fight. J.J. my puta and my personal dartboard. Brock Lesnar the most over-rated MMA fighter there is. Even more over-rated than Kimbo Slice.

If we go undefeated...
we might go to the MNC, even over a 1-loss SEC Champion Alabama. You would think that our huge victory over them in the 2008 Sugar Bowl could weigh heavily on the voters’ minds.
No.
I like the optimism, and agree with it as a fan and idealist. But there is no way, with LSU, Auburn, and likely the SEC championship against top 20 South Carolina, that if Alabama runs the table, they don’t get in.
If it’s any consolation, I don’t think they will run the table. I think LSU, Auburn, or S. Carolina win one of those 3, and they don’t win the conference. Our real hope is that the SEC East wins the championship, then I think you realistically may see one of TCU/BSU/Utah in the championship (Sadly, probably in that order — Unless V.T. loses 1 or 2 more — Ironic that I think the tie-breaker between Utah and BSU – While it SHOULD be TCU – will be the success or failure of PITT and Virginia Tech)
2008 was a MUCH stronger argument for our S.O.S. vs. Florida’s piddly strength of schedule that year. Utah played 4 ranked teams that year to Florida’s 2, and they still passed us up, even with beating a top 10 TCU that year.
A lot of what you’re saying is true, but the fact is that perceptions of our program outside of the west have changed dramatically since the 08 season. Which is evidenced by our much quicker rise in the polls this year. I don’t know if we’d have a chance in the NCG after winning out, but we have much more of a chance this year than we’ve ever had before due to the name recognition we earned by waxing Bama in the Sugar Bowl.
that is a good point. people remember that game. biggest win in utah history and east coast people remember it.

As an Oregon fan
Rooting for you guys.
Well, assuming you think you can get past fBSU by the end of the year and get into the rose bowl! It would be a great statement for the 12 Pac to send a member to the rose bowl even before it’s official, huh?

thinking positive. it's going to be a war vs tcu. does anybody know about devonte christopher injury?

Blechen and Manis?
Jazzy – any info on status of Blechen and Manis? I know Blechen’s hand was wrapped like a club and they were looking at his ankle or leg (Cramps?) But I heard that Manis was on crutches!
TAO
I'm continuing to root for an Oregon-Utah NCG
and the path’s pretty clear now: Oregon and Utah win out, and somebody beats Auburn (though jim2’s quite likely right that it would also take someone beating Alabama).
Far from certain, but quite plausible.

Yeah, you guys would need Auburn AND Alabama to both lose another
It’s pretty hard to imagine that, but hey, go for it.
I guess even better than the Utes in the Rose Bowl is…an all Pac 12 NCG?

And thinking more about it, that would be the best for the Pac 12 anyway
If a non AQ team gets into the NCG, then the Rose bowl gets to take a Pac 10 team!.
3 Pac-12 teams in the BCS bowls, including both sides of the NCG is on hell of an auspicious start to a conference.
At least for now, GO UTES!

Not *me* guys
I’m a Husky fan; but I’ve liked the Utes for a while, I’m pulling for them harder now because their success boosts the Pac, and let’s face it, after Saturday’s embarrassment against Arizona, the Utes are a lot more fun. :/
Honestly, though, a strong win against TCU and good performances the rest of the way could keep UU ahead of Bama even if the Tide does roll through the rest of their schedule. Right now, though, I’m rooting for LSU to beat both Tide and Tigers, thereby mooting the whole matter (as long as Oregon and Utah take care of business, of course . . . which will force me to root for Oregon over Washington, which is painful — but hey, the big picture).

We won't have to worry about Boise State...
because they are going to lose at Nevada. Mark. It. Down. I also think that Auburn will lose at Alabama. We realistically could go to the MNC if we go undefeated and the cards fall in our favor.
Totally with you on BSU-Nevada. If it weren’t for BSU, Nevada would be owning the WAC in recent years, and I’m sure they’re sick of it. Plus it’s at Nevada, and they seem to have had relative success against the Broncos. The BSU players will also know that the NC game isn’t going to happen and will have less to play for.
When the Broncos lose, OBNUG will implode and riots will claim Boise. I feel sad for the reasonable fans.
I'm warming up my lungs now.
This Saturday is going to be epic. #3 vs. #5. Forget third down jump, ‘cause I’m going to be yelling the whole time Utah is on defense.
This game is going to be beyond epic.
I don’t know how I am going to focus on anything at all this week.
I think I speak for all Oregon fans
Would much rather play Utah than Oregon. I hate being around those pricks. Utah fans rock.
Ok, I have said it before, but CRAIG JAMES IS A BIG D-BAG!!!! He did not even rank Utah in the top 10...WTF??? His reason was weak...."trophy win"....who has BSU beat?
"Well ain't this place a geographical oddity! Two weeks from everywhere!"
craig james has no friends. has extreme guilt over smu's death penalty sanctions and takes it out over a non aq team he dislikes
he is a puta and i bet he will do the same when we enter the pac-12. i hope mike leach’s trial goes the way i think it will and espn will part ways with mr. james just like they did with trev albert and jay marrioti.

I know why he is such a deuche!
It is because we beat the piss out of ISU the week after they beat his son’s Texas Tech team. What a d,
I just hope we pull out all the stops!
What a Huge GAME!!! We have to open up the gates, put the foot on the gas, choose your own metaphor… but we have to get off to a fast start not let up for a moment and the D has to get some stops and 4 turnovers…. In fact mow that I think about it that’s going to be it Turnovers!!! Big Red is going to have one of his worse game as TCU’s QB throwing 4 INT’s

I am speechless
Please please please Whitt have them better prepared this week and get the win!
Best week of the year
This is why I love college football – weeks like this. College Gameday, #3 vs. #5, and the biggest game of the season (although nobody around the nation gets to see it on our awesome TV network). The utes always prepare well, but I hope the play calling improves from some of the crap vs. air force. Also, anyone know the status of Blechen, Manis and other players who were banged up on saturday?
here we go
TCU has looked bretty week on the road (excluding last night). we don’t loose at home. The game is going to be nationally televised on CBS college channel #3 VS #5 if we win BCS here we come. Dont know about the NC game Oregon looks unstopable and if bama or auburn run the table that will be the NC. but getting to smck down WISKY or BUGEYEs in the rose bowl will make a hell of a final year in the MWC
It's awesome
Now we need to go prove it on the field, a win vs. TCU would silence the doubters.
National Championship Game?
No way. We haven’t beaten TCU yet. And Utah would probably win 5 out of 100 games played with at least half of the top 15. At this moment in time, Utah is vastly overrated. In the two challenging games of the year, Pitt and AF, we pretty much sucked.
We’ll see how good Utah really is on Saturday. Even a close win is good enough. But I think that Oregon and Alabama/Auburn will be in the NCG. But Oregon Utah would be a hell of a lot of fun. It might break the scoreboard. Could you see 8OT? 115-112.
Three teams I despise: Georgetown Hoyas, BYU Cretins, and the New York Yankees.
Wow...
Is it possible Utah would have equal or more depth than Oregon? 2 experienced QB’s 2 health RB’s 9 receivers for TD’s this year, and rotating 11 on the D-Line…. Only weak spots I see are the secondary and LB’s… maybe O-Line..
Would be interesting to see 6 OTs let alone 8
