Shades of UNLV 2007?

Stay connected for news and updates

So as I've been pondering the aftermath of Saturday, I'm really trying to figure out what to take away from this game.

Throw out the fact that this TCU team might the best we've ever played (of any team).  They certainly looked like it, but I don't think we'll really know how to gauge them until their BCS bowl.  If they destroy Ohio St./Wisconsin or Oregon in the national championship game (fingers crossed), that'll take some of the edge off...

...but the bottom line for me is that I never expected us to be so thoroughly dominated on both sides of the ball, by any team.  I thought we had reached a different 'level' as a program, and would make a game of it, no matter who we faced.  I never thought I'd see another "2007 UNLV" game, but that was the worst loss I've experienced since that game.  Even 2009 TCU wasn't this embarrassing.

So am I spoiled?  Have I drunk too much of the koolaid, and now I'm just hungover?  Are we just not that good?  Was it the 'cupcake' schedule? (Iowa St. almost beat Nebraska)  Are we lacking talent, is it a coaching issue, or is it a perception issue on my part?  Are we ready for the rigors of a Pac-12 conference schedule?  All of these things are weighing on my mind.

You all are smarter than me, so I'd like to know what you think.  What did you see?   Can you even fathom to think about it...or are you all still rocking back and forth in a corner, pretending it didn't happen (which was how I spent my Sunday).

Fire away!
