Utah State done; BYU and New Mexico look for once-in-a-generation wins

Stay connected for news and updates

Day two wasn't nearly as exciting as day one and produced very little upsets.

The Utah State Aggies were picked by many to upset the Texas A&M Aggies - but that failed to manifest, as A&M easily rolled over an obviously outmatched USU team that has not produced a first-round win since 2001.

Now round two and for the Mountain West, two potential big wins. BYU, who hasn't advanced to the Sweet Sixteen since the 1981 season, will take on Kansas State tonight at 6:10, while the Lobos - who have never advanced to the Sweet Sixteen - will try play Washington. The Huskies are a lesser seed at 11, but have the tools to pull the upset.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. If the Cougars do win, they'll receive a very favorable Sweet Sixteen game in Salt Lake City. Elite Eight, anyone?
