Koa Misi and Zane Beadles get drafted in 2nd round

Koa Misi was selected by Miami (8th pick 40th overall) and Zane Beadles was selected by Denver (13th pick 45th overall) Great job boys,we wish you the best in the NFL. Hopefully some of our other former Utes will get selected as well (RoJo and Sly were looking at you). On a side note, Misi will get to join former Ute Sean Smith in Miami. I also tip my hat to Kyle Whittingham and the rest of our fine coaches at the U.

David Reed...

is my guess for the next Ute taken.

I think we’ll see Johnson and Sly go too though.

WTG guys and best of luck.

Johnson gets picked in the 5th by Tennessee

17th pick, (148th overall). That puts Utah up in draft picks over BYU at 3-1 so far. (For those of you who care Pitta got picked somewhere in the fourth). Ny gut feeling says Sly gets picked soon and (sorry to say this) Reed will go undrafted. As long as Max Hall gets snubbed, I’ll be happy.

Nice!

I Spoke too soon. Reed just got picked by Baltimore (joining former teammate Paul Kruger).

You're welcome

Because you sure as hell didn’t earn that game.

This year even if you do get back unga (b/c bronco mendenhall is so desperate).

utah 38 byu 17. revenge will be sweet. weber state had as many players selected as byu. so now i declare byu, mr. irrelevant in football.

i would contend

that draft picks are largely irrelevant to what happens on the field that year

Here's my take on each player:

Koa Misi: He’s got a few rough edges to work out but if he works hard enough I could see him fitting nicely with the Dolphins. Especially since they lost two of their rushing specialists. I see him playing more LB than DE personally.

Zane Beadles: It’s gonna be hard for me to root for him (I’m a Charger fan) but I believe Zane can find the tools necessary to succeed at the next level. He just needs to work hard and improve his overall strength.

Robert Johnson- As much as I loved RoJo’s play during his Ute days for us , he’s got his work cut out for him to survive in the NFL. I feel he just needs to improve his change of direction ability and his tackling.

David Reed- In all fairness David Reed is gonna have to work harder than most in my book. Though he’s a great route runner and does good in finding holes in zones, his size and speed won’t separate him from the elite pack in the NFL. Plus the competition is gonna be rough with Boldin and Stallworth on the roster already. I hope I’m wrong though and he does make a name for himself.

Stevenson Sylvester- Personally I think this is a great fit. The Steelers have long been known for great defense and Sly has plenty of tools that will help him on the next level. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him succeed.

R.J Stanford- With all respect to RJ, this ones gonna be a long shot too. He has great speed but he still needs to work on his coverage skills to be a good DB in the big leagues.

I think you're underrating Reed.

Stanford

Has a shot because he’s smart and fast.

I agree with slc ranger.

Reed is in a perfect spot. He may not play at all next year, but he has Boldin as a mentor. I think that that can only help him. I also think that he is a good steal for the Ravens.

GO UTES!!

by Jman87 on Apr 25, 2010 6:56 PM MDT reply actions

utah had five players selected.

i don’t think one team in the big east had more and only fsu had more in the acc. utah did very well. i saw tcu have three(i glanced over them) but did that safety from tcu ever get drafted? that would make four from tcu if he was.

oops, i see it now above me. damn, utah had six.

that is more than anybody in big east, acc (i think fsu had 6 or 7) and the only team in the pac-ten that could have had more is usc.

the offense will be off the hook. i fully expexct utah to average 38 points per game.

i think we will only need 28 to beat pittsburgh. coach whitt always finds gems on the defensive side. check this out. mr. irrelevant tim toone played at weber state. weber state had as many people drafted as byu. lmao!

Hey guys, I am a writer for SB Nation’s Ravens blog, Baltimore Beatdown and I will be doing a story on David Reed soon, introducing him to the Ravens fans. I am wondering if anyone here would be interested in doing a 3-4 paragraph write-up about WR David covering what kind of WR he is, his strengths and weaknesses and what he will bring to the Ravens.

If anyone is interested, please email me asap. My email address is in my profile page. Thanks.
