Marshall Henderson has left the program

Not surprised, but disappointed. Utah basketball is going to take a huge hit to with news

But I wish the best of luck to Henderson and hopefully Jim Boylen has an ace up his sleeve.

What is going on?

Does anybody know? This isn’t rebuilding anymore, it is starting from scratch.

Who the hell knows...

Either Boylen is some mad scientist with a method to his insanity, or he lost the team and the program.

Meh...

I kinda knew this was going to happen. I knew there were other possibilities even after Cyphers, Read, Hines, and Brown left. As you said, not surprising, but I was still hoping it wouldn’t happen. I think this will be the last of it, but it’s hard to tell.

As I’ve alluded to before, I really think it’s just a matter of these kids not wanting to run the same kind of offense as Boylen does. I think it’s structured more like an NBA offense with very little wiggle room. Jim isn’t just letting these kids just go out there and play, and it’s rubbing some of them the wrong way. But who knows, perhaps I’m way off base here.

This certainly is going to be a make or break year for Boylen. You can’t have this many of your own recruits leaving and have another bad season like ‘09. Those are two huge red flags that can’t be ignored and I doubt they will be after ’10.

Who's left?

With Tillie and Drca graduating and those 5 leaving the program, who’s even left? Watkins Foster and Tavita are the only ones that come to my mind.

After weathering the internal struggle with my negative self, I have come to grips with this fact: This last year was Jim Boylen’s uncomfortable coach-puberty.

With that said, if things do not markedly improve this next year, I would not be adverse to seeing him leave and having someone close to the program assume the reins.

But what do I know…I hardly watch College BB.

I like it. Bill Guerin’s uppercut is so awesome it wins fights he’s not even in.

This is the risk you do have with hiring unproven HEAD coaches.

We saw it with Whittingham prior to 2008. I think we’re seeing it now with Boylen. That obviously doesn’t mean he can’t turn it around. However, let’s be realistic here – Boylen has f’d it up big time and I think even he’d admit that.

Now we just hope he can learn from his mistakes and pull this program together. You’re right, though, if Utah bottoms out next year…I don’t think I’d be opposed to a change. My hope, though, is that he is the guy and proves it next year by taking a bunch of ragtag boys and doing just enough (think Jerry Sloan in 2003-’04 after Malone & Stockton left/retired).

Definitely, I’m hoping for top 3 conference ranking (I know…the other teams bring back a lot of talent) and NIT bid, with perhaps a shot at the Big Dance if we can do well in the conference tourney.

C'mon

Non one rebuilds like this.

What kid will come ot our program with a reputation like we have with this coach?

No one worth having, that’s who.

Program lost

That’s my call.

No one, but no one , loses this many guys for no reason or to intentionally rebuild.

New coach needed, now, he’s lost control of the program.

It’s clear he can coach, but likley he’s a fantastic assistant coach—not a guy who can manage a program.
