PrintDemand for attending today's press conference at one was so big, the U decided to open the stadium and allow people to watch it on the video board. So if you live in Salt Lake, get down to Rice-Eccles Stadium and usher in a new era of Utah football!
If you're stuck at work or out of town, no worries. You can watch the press conference live here.
I'm gonna head down to the stadium to catch it, so I'll probably report on what happened when I return.
If I don't die of excitement, that is.

my opinion, the U is the biggest winner out of all this: bigger conference, more money, automatic BCS or Rose Bowl bid if you guys win the conference championship. Don’t have to worry deal with convoluted “discussions” about whether a non-BCS school gets in or not. You ARE a BCS school! Not too shabby.
Oh, and if you play Penn State in the Rose Bowl, we will kill you ;-)

remember utah is 7-3 vs the pac-ten in it's last ten games with them.

rice-eccles stadium is roughly 4700 feet above sea level and it's located on the foothills of the
wasatch front. it’s a huge mtn range.

though not well. (In total, I’ve spent more time in the Uintas, but that was further back.) My last church, we had a couple families with immediate relatives in Park City, but that never did me any good. :)

tthe uintas are even higher in elevation. there east of the wasatch front.
i think kings peak is around 13,500. highest elevation in utah.

To bad I snowboard, because I can't go to Deer Valley...Boo. Although, I could poach Dear Valley. Ha ha
I heard Dear Valley is nice. Love Park City and the Canyons, although I have friends that told me I need to go to Little and Big Cottonwood Canyon, that is where the good snow is at. I was planing on going to those resorts, but got sick during my last visit there. You guys have great medical in the SLC. The Intermountian clinic was nice, clean and not packed.

the hospitals and research center are near the stadium too.
red butte gardens too. when they rank the stadiums it’s always sec or big ten teams in the top ten. only for tradition reasons. utah, airforce(colorado springs) and washington husky stadium are the best stadium’s b/c my number one thing is scenery and then atmosphere. plus a good competitive football game helps.

Hopefully adding a championship game and good TV markets in SLC and Denver will allow all of our schools to make some more money! You guys should improve the conference athletically as well, and I’m looking forward to basketball games against you. Football, well, let’s just say I’m not looking forward to a whole lot this year against anyone, don’t take it personally.
On to the Next rumor - Stadium expansion
I heard the PAC 10 is not giving pressure for a stadium upgrade; however, some officials mentioned they expect expansion within the next 5 years.
I first heard expansion rumors that the stadium would move to 55,000. Then more recently that number changed to 60,000. That was in the MWC days. Now I hear rumblings of 65,000 – 70,000.
Please let this happen…
Is Utah football currently a tough ticket? Of course, I imagine it will be a bit tougher when USC visits…
