Utah to have special uniform for TCU game
This seems to be a semi-tradition for the Utah-TCU game. In 2008, Utah unveiled their black jerseys against the Frogs and a year later, TCU had their own jersey change for the big game. Well for 2010, the Utes are back to showing off a new uniform. This time, though, it's to honor the troops.
From Under Armour's website:
WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT GAMES
For the second year in a row, select Under Armour®-sponsored NCAA football teams will show their support for the Wounded Warrior Project by gearing up in customized WWP uniforms. On the backs of each jersey, player names will be replaced with different core values, including Honor, Commitment, Service, Country, Duty, and Freedom. In 2009 jersey auctions and product sales from the games raised nearly $200,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.
This year, UA teams will gear up again in WWP-inspired camouflage uniforms for the following games:
Texas Tech vs. Missouri
Utah vs. TCU
To give you an idea of what to expect, this is Maryland's uniform for the Wounded Warrior Project:

I like this tradition
Just have to make sure to do it for the big games. We did it for the Wyoming game last year because it was “Halloween” and had nothing to do with the game actually being played.
As a result, we had a TON of people come to the game PLASTERED and were not at all interested in the game. When we did this 2 years ago for TCU, you had a TON of people come to the game, many were drunk, but at least they were watching the game and not looking for other ways to entertain themselves.
My little blurb. I thought the black-out sucked this last year, but it was awesome against TCU.
Yeah...the blackout against Wyoming wasn't too great.
I guess it served its purpose with it being Halloween. And of course, the home schedule SUCKED that year (the only good games were Louisville and AFA).
You know, I was just starting to think Utah and TCU was becoming the premier rivalry in the Mountain West. One that I thought would be for the title every year (as it was in 2008, 2009 and will be again this year, IMO). That’s one thing I’ll miss about leaving the MWC.
I prefer consistency
“Alternate” uniforms are one of the things that bug me in sports. I’m a fan of teams having tradition and a persistent identity. To me, having a million different uniforms dilutes that identity and is nothing more than a ploy to sell merchandise. However, this seems to have some charitable purpose beyond merchandising, so I have no problem with it.
I like the idea because I think it creates an extra layer of buzz...
The blackout in 2008 was perfect because it turned out to be the biggest regular season game of the season. It also made the atmosphere unlike something I’ve ever seen at RES.
It was fun. The players like it (and that’s all that really matters) and from what I can tell, so did most of the fans.

I was actually in the student section for that game...
It was pretty epic. I had a black polo and black jeans on. But since my coat was a very dark blue mixed with black, I didn’t wear it. Froze my ass off!
good idea but...
i really think it’s a fantastice idea for under armour to commemorate our troops, but maybe do it against a team like air force, since they are our troops…

Looking forward to it!
I think this is really cool especially since it is for a good cause. This is the first game that I will have been to at RES to see the UTES since going to the Texas A&M game to start 2004. Can’t wait!
another blackout game where hopefully tcu's fg kicker misses a few.
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. I still will always follow the Mountain West Conference. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez and face the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs Roy Nelson where he will defeat JDS and stake his claim as pound for pound champion.
