Interesting note about the season
I thought the article from Bruce Feldman was interesting.
From chucktodd: There's always a "surprise" top 5 team no one knows now, usually anchored by a senior-laden offensive line. This year's candidates?
A few of these are further off the radar than others, but I'll go with the Wisconsin Badgers for the reason you hit on (savvy O-line), plus they have a rugged big back in John Clay, a sharp QB (Scott Tolzien) and a versatile TE (Lance Kendricks) -- and they get the conference favorite (OSU) in Madison.
Three others with the potential to breakthrough:
There's been more buzz around the Virginia Tech Hokies, Miami Hurricanes and North Carolina Tar Heels, but keep an eye on the Florida State Seminoles.
Their O-line isn't all seniors, but it is all returning starters who have played a lot of football. Their leader, Christian Ponder, is terrific, and I think the D is going to be much better. The downside: The nonconference schedule is nasty: at Oklahoma and home games against BYU and Florida. Winning two of those would be a major accomplishment. All three? Whoa.
The Arkansas Razorbacks are in this discussion too. They have a prolific offense with a lot of experience on the O-line and a great talent piloting the offense (Ryan Mallett). I also like that they get Bama and LSU at home.
I'd throw the Utah Utes in here too. They have four returning starting O-linemen to go with some good skill talent. They get TCU and BYU at home. If they can beat Pitt (also at home) in their Thursday night opener, the buzz will grow quickly.

you did not know. we expect utah to goto the rose bowl before even going to the pac-12.
only optimists here.
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. I still will always follow the Mountain West Conference. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez and face the winner of Junior Dos Santos vs Roy Nelson where he will defeat JDS and stake his claim as pound for pound champion. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 45 days and counting to the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

Florida State
Has to rebuild their defense. They will have a great, phenomenal perhaps, offense, but their D . . .
We shall see. If they’d been able to produce a handful of stops last year they would have gone 11-1.
they will still beat byu. probably stomped them again.
