The Morning Blitz: Daily Utah links
This marks the final week of no college football. This time next week, we'll be only a few days out from the start of the much anticipated 2010 season. Can you believe it?
The Utes ended their fall camp Saturday (more proof the season is creeping up) with a final scrimmage and it appears the team has made great strides since the first scrimmage a week or so ago.
Now the team will begin preparing full-time for the Pitt Panthers, who enter the season ranked 15th nationally. It'll mark the highest rated opponent Utah has faced at Rice-Eccles Stadium since 11th ranked TCU lost in Salt Lake City back in 2008.
So now we wait. I'm expecting this week to drag.
Knowing what you know now, do you feel the defense has improved since the first scrimmage, or is it still a concern?

Cain as backup
Is it just me or does it seem that Cain consistently puts up better numbers in the scrimmages? I don’t know if that is because he is going against the 2nd team defense, or if he is just a really consistent quarterback.
I think this makes me confident about this year, but what if we get into the first couple games and Wynn has struggled and Cain still looks good? Does Whit start juggling quarterbacks?
I believe he would. Plus i think we can use Cains talents in wildcats formations and gadget plays.
I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 10 days till the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

I'd expect any quarterback to put up better numbers going against the 2nd team defense...
And if his numbers were similar to Wynns, it’d suggest he hasn’t improved a lick since last year.
Of course, Cain also was constantly producing the best scrimmage and practice results during the season and it never really transfered over into the game.
But then again, from what I’ve heard, he has improved. I don’t think he’s the guy to lead us – but if Wynn goes down (knock on wood), I don’t think the dropoff would be all that big.
Whittingham doesn't think that way
I think Whittingham is a guy who believes you pick your man and stick with him (unless of course he tanks) . Juggling QB’s is a messy business.
Poll
Just because I can’t seem to ever agree on one of the poll choices, here’s a vote for, “Yes, but I’m not sure yet if it will be enough.” Also, I have commitment issues, apparently.
I keep accidentally eating my pets. Maybe I should get something less appetizing, like a cat instead of a Twinkie.

Just Curious! Anything to the story regarding the former UCLA Chancellor's opposition to PAC 10 expansion
Besides the primary story in the SF Examiner, UCLA and TDS blogs this really hasn’t gained any traction. I saw a quick response from a request that was sent to Larry Scott and he pretty much brushed it off.
All reports suggest it's just some butt hurt UCLA douche...
There is little to no chance Utah won’t be playing in the P-10 a year from now.
