Who Is Your Favorite Reporter / Writer That Covers the Utes?

We're all anxious to see what's going on in camp and getting ready for the season to start, right?  I thought it might be interesting to ask which reporter / writer is your favorite.  I know it sounds nerdy but I read this stuff every day and I can barely stand some of these folks.  Seriously!  Am I the only one?  I know I may have missed some folks out there, please include them in your comments below.  So excited for the season to start and GO UTES!

I hope he isn't reading this, but...

I seriously can’t stand Brad Rock. His articles are corny and often don’t add an interesting perspective to the overall fan experience. I usually steer clear of articles written by him and especially the big Dick H. Does anyone else care about this? Does it matter? Will any of the media outlets be able to land a great (note I said great, not good) writer to cover the Utes?

Okay, I can’t believe you voted for Lya. Seriously?

Ok, ok...

put down the knife. Lya feeds tidbits of information, and doesn’t really write anything with significant depth (no one does really..) I guess you could say I think she’s the least bad of the group?? I voted for her because she usually breaks the story first…

Graham Watson got sacked.

Now Andrea Adelson does the ESPN non-AQ blog and imo, is much better. Here is a pretty good blog post that shows research and a basic understanding of college football:

I gotta agree. None of the writers you mentioned come close to Jazzy or the Utezone guys.

So my vote is for none of the above. Jazzy should be the beat writer for the tribune and Cella and the boys write better stories than any of those hacks.

Lya is particularly atrocious.

Okay, was that Utezone selection always there?

I picked Utezone. If there had been a jazzy option I’d have had to think about it.

agreed.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. I expect them to compete immediately for the conference CG. Brock Lesnar will defeat Cain Velasquez. Womens MMA, the next big thing in sports. 3 weeks till the first game of college football. UTAH vs Pitt. September 2nd 2010.

I've been a Tribune fan a while now,

I really liked Micheal C. Lewis’ writing when he covered the Utes…sadly he’s with RSL now. I just liked his stuff so much better than Gordon “BYU Homer” Monson or Kurt Kragthorpe. (Lya is okay,) My first and foremost info I get on the Utes, I either get it here or at UteZone.

Keep up the good work Jazzy.
GO UTES!!

Let's not forget our boys over at ESPN 700

Bill Riley and Co. do a great job covering the U and are certainly my first pick when I can’t catch the games on TV.

Good call...

I think Riley is fine and forgot to add them to the list.

I may have sabotaged this poll by posting a link on Utezone.

Regardless, Utezone deserves to be crushing it.

I like Utezone.com

…but I have a hard time in principal paying $99.95 for their annual subscription. The cost vs. benefit just doesn’t work out in their favor in my opinion.

by nh24 on Aug 7, 2010 4:22 PM MDT up reply actions

I disagree. $8 a month is a steal for the kind of Utah info you get there.

Personally I love it and feel it’s completely worth it, particularly if you want to follow recruiting and camp. They’re far and away the best “off-season” Utah news source. During the season there are a lot of people writing about the utes, so maybe it’s a wash, but if you want to know what’s happening between January and September, Utezone is the only place.
