Lamar Chapman and Shaky Smithson named MWC Players of the Week

PrintFor the second consecutive week, Shaky Smithson was named the Mountain West's Special Teams Player of the Week. He was joined by fellow Ute Lamar Chapman, who was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
This marks the third consecutive week a Ute has been named to the list. In week one, both DeVonte Christopher and Brian Blechen were named to MWC Players of the Week.
In Utah's 56-14 win over the Lobos, Smithson had a punt return for a touchdown - his second on the season.
Chapman had eight tackles and a sack, leading the Ute defense which pretty much shut down the New Mexico offense.
Once again, congrats to both players!

This is some great recognition from the conference
And well deserved. While one might expect a bias against Utah in their last season in the Mountain West, the conference guys are showing some class by giving credit where credit is due. Go Utes!
