Or how about how this will affect other sports? If you pay the football players you're going to have to pay the basketball teams. If you pay the basketball teams you'll have to pay the baseball and softball teams, and so on and so forth. And if schools try to only pay one or two teams then that will open up grounds for law suits I'm sure.
Schools will now have the option to offer student athletes a $2,000 bonus to their scholarships. Am I the only one who thinks this is a crazy can of worms to be opening. especially in this economy!? This only serves to help the big schools who can afford to give that extra little bit. Can you imagine how much more of a gap this will create between the AQs and non AQs???? Or how about the gaps it could create within AQ conferences. I doubt that Colorado or Wazzu could afford to do this with what I've heard about their athletic budgets the last few years, but USC could easily swing that.
Just way too many issues for this to be a worthwhile effort and its going to hurt all of college athletics in some way.
