Runnin' Utes picked last in Pac-12 media poll

Not a shocker at all. Utah, who's breaking in a new conference, new players and a new coaching staff, was picked to finish dead last by conference media members.

UCLA is expected to win the the conference title.

The Utes, who have recorded back-to-back losing seasons, enter their new era with a lot of questions and hardly any expectations.

Utah received only 74 overall points, Washington State and Colorado, who finished tied for 9th/10th, grabbed 119 - so it shows you the distance even between second to last and dead last.

Will the Utes surprise this year? How many conference wins do you expect out of the basketball team?

At least BB can't disappoint expectations

When ur picked last there’s nowhere to go but up. Can any of our b-ball guys play qb I wonder?

I think they will surprise

There were serious problems under Boylen that were clear coaching issues, not talent issues. Though the talent was not off the charts, it was good enough to be competitive which they rarely were. If K can improve the basics and help players reach their potential, I think we’re decent this year even with all the unknowns…. I hope so anyway…. Go Utes!

so there

Possibly...

I think they would’ve surprised more if all of last year’s team had returned. But the fact we’re starting over with so many new faces, it’s hard to say either way.

yes, it's hard to say

but I’m excited to see how it turns out… coaching is huge so if it turns out we have a good coach I like our chances of making it respectable…. we shall see…

I agree.

I’m looking forward to our 11th place finish. GO UTES!

Really hard to say with so many unknowns.

I have more confidence in a lack of Boylen than I do in a presence of Krystkowiak. Then there are so many new faces… Really hard to say. I think that 12th place may very well be accurate, but I’ll give the Utes ONE possible win. Just because with so many conference games, odds are in their favor that the Utes will have at least one good game when their opponent has a bad one.

Don't have to win it all.....

Finish above expectations, look like you have a clue as a coach and most of us will see it as definite improvement.

"Finish above expectations"...

Not hard to do after the past few years and being picked dead last in the conference.

I agree with you all here.

For me, it comes down to progress. Beat the teams you should. Get better as the season progresses. Move on offense, play as a team. No one is expecting us to win, and I don’t think we will, but we can be a pain in the side for people. It will take a few years, but we can get back to where we are used to being.

It's a weak year in Pac-10 so you might be able to do some damage

Not upper echelon but not quite 12th either

In other words, Go Bears!

P12 hoops is going to be bad this year.

The Utes could just as well be in the top third as the bottom.

Got my season tickets. Only $100/seat.

Seems like a good enough way to spend a couple nights a week. Hoping that we can finish better than 12th though.

I would strongly consider that if I lived in Utah.

Dolphins and sharks are natural enemies. Dolphins are like, "Quit eating us," and sharks are like, "Stop smiling all the time, you morons."

I am really just taking the same attidude I would with the Jazz if they were playing

I hope this young team looks good with their new coach and is fun to watch even in defeat. If there is a lot heart and flashes of brilliance. I’ll be totally content with the first season under K2.
