Utes officially 'under consideration' for BCS bowl

PrintOkay, if only because they still have a shot at the Pac-12 championship game, thus are still alive to play for the Rose Bowl.
But still, it's the end of November and the Utes are under consideration for a BCS bowl game. I like the sound of that!
Utah could wrap up the Pac-12 South with a win over Colorado Friday and losses by both ASU (to Cal) and UCLA (to USC).
Two of those three seem likely at this point. The third, a Sun Devils' loss at home to the inconsistent Golden Bears, will prove to be the most difficult game to predict.
We'll pretty much know where Utah stands Friday night, as the ASU-Cal game kicks off after Utah's done hosting Colorado.

For the past 3 nights I have dreamed the same thing
I have dreamed 2 things over and over:
1). ASU loosing to Cal….
2.) us beating Oregon and going to the rose bowl
I wake up and just sit there with a smile on my face. I have a hard time going back to bed so I usually get on Blocku and look at others comments and just stay in the feeling of that dream.
I CANNOT wait to see what happens Friday! GO CAL AND GO UTES!!

I had a football dream this morning too
It was the Colorado game, and I was down near the field in the place where the south end zone stands should be. Colorado started with the ball, and threw like four laterals, but the last lateral went so far backwards that they were tackled for a loss. Then Harvey Langi came over by me, only he was there as a fan and was wearing a TDS jumpsuit. Someone said he had decommitted to Utah and was going to go to BYU, and he had a bunch of friends there wearing TDS gear too. Then one of Colorado’s receivers threw the ball through the uprights, and for some reason that counted as a field goal.

But if Colorado pitches a bunch of laterals on their first play from scrimmage, watch for the trick throwing field goal. Someone should tell the coaches.

About a week before the Sugar Bowl I had a dream...
In it, I was in the stands watching a very close game. I think Utah was either tied or down with less than a couple minutes left – either way, a TD would’ve given them the lead.
Utah was driving and I remember Johnson found David Reed down the left side of the field for a touchdown.
The Utes won.
That never happened, obviously. But David Reed’s third quarter touchdown, which put Utah up 28-17, was identical to my dream! haha

I really think Cal could beat ASU, but going to the Rose Bowl? I am an optimist and would hope they win, but am realistic and do not think the Rose Bowl will happen.
You are right, no Rose Bowl.
We are going to beat Oregon 700-0 and so impress the voters that we’ll play in the NCG.
Incidentally… if we do win and get to the Rose Bowl… three BCS teams?

seriously though...
after this season and with 4 losses, to think we are (potentially) 1 win away from playing in the rose bowl, compared to the last several years starting out needing 11 wins and a perfect season to be even considered. once asu loses, this is going to get real, fast.
right
I was just assuming a win vs CU and meant at the end of the regular season we could be one win away. who knows, maybe CU will give us a game.

We’re just better, up and down the roster, in the coaching booth, and every which way. No one is more motivated, either. Also, we’re at home. I can’t imagine this is going to be a game. Hopefully, the players don’t have my ridiculous confidence!

for some reason it just dawned on me
That chances are decent that we’ll be in the championship game which will be hosted by the ducks. I hope there are still tickets available because I’m an Oregon resident now and Autzen is about as close a venue to see the Utes as I get now.

Finally some national press coverage for JWIV and the Utes.
I think most of us at ATQ are pulling for the Utes.
Not really talking about it all that much.The reason? ‘cause we don’t want to risk getting The Stare from Chip by talking about hypotheticals and looking past our weekly Superbowl. But even if it’s only because you’re “new” and because we don’t disdain your coach, we’d love to have you at Autzen for the CCG. And there’s certainly an element of “be careful what you wish for” on both sides. You could scrap your way up from what was a pretty ugly first half of the season and get within drooling distance of the crown jewel of college bowl games only to be hacked into tiny red-and-black pieces as if by a Chipper. We could go into our jet-engine-rivaling zoo of a stadium and have the upstarts grit and D us up into a Cal ’10 gutcheck that we ultimately lose.
