Todd Graham's high-octane offense going to ASU

Arizona State has made a hire and it's not Kyle Whittingham.

The Sun Devils, who had shown interest in Utah's coach last week, surprisingly hired Todd Graham - after he spent only one season with the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Of course, Graham's Panthers, and their supposed high-octane offense, were essentially shut out in a 26-14 loss to the Utes earlier in the season. Jon Hays would be making only his second start.

With this hire, and of course the fact Whittingham is in line for a raise, I can officially move us to WHITCON 5.

Seriously

Out of all the SB nation blogs you have to be the worst. Nobody takes shots at opposing teams for no reason quite like you do.

You’re seriously sportsbybrooks but the Utah version.

Oh and btw take off the self shot pic of yourself with glasses on inside, you’re not 14.

What article are you reading?

Only line in this piece that could even marginally be called a shot was the one about how this coach prior team did against us. And you’ve got pretty thin skin even if you are this actual coach.

Unless this is satire too fracking convoluted for even a Zoobie.

Jazzy does a good job and trolls like you are free to crawl back under your bridge.

Way off base
Out of all the SB nation blogs you have to be the worst.

Everyone knows the fine folks over at Bruins Nation have held this prestigious position for years.

What are you talking about?

This is an informational post, letting us ute fans know that ASU isn’t hiring our coach, they’ve hired a different one. What problem is there?

I’m probably just feeding a troll, aren’t I? Sorry.

Take a chill pill

So Cal Trojan, just cause you lost to ASU this year which kept you out of the top 5, don’t take it out on us….

Wow

What hostility!

You’re accusing the author of this blog of having the mentality of a 14-year-old? Your crude, hate-filled remark indicates to us all that you’re likely 10 or younger.

I don't read the script. The script reads me.

I don't think Todd Graham knows much about offense.

He’s a former defensive coordinator. When he’s had good OC’s, he’s had good offenses. In 2007 and 2008 he had Gus Malzahn, who has been the OC at Auburn the last 3 years and helped them win the 2010 BCS championship. In 2010, he had Chad Morris as his OC; he moved to Clemson in 2011 and their offense jumped to 33.6 points per game (up from 24.0 in 2010.)

Otherwise, Graham’s offenses have been anemic. As a Utah fan, I love this hire. Despite his defensive background, as a head coach, his teams have given up 29.24 points a game.

Agreed...

Though he should have a better offense to work with at ASU than he did at Pitt, especially with Brock Osweiler.

I think most Sun Devils fans want a defensive-first coach and I guess, the fact Graham was a DC, that might be why this hire makes sense.

Even so, his Tulsa teams were not really known for their defenses.

I for one would like to thank ASU...

Their poaching attempt of Coach Whit, actually was able to stir some life into this blog that is suffering with a terrible Basketball team, and a football team practicing for a bowl still a couple weeks away.

Agreed...

Dead time here and I’m not used to having this long of wait between the end of the season and bowl game (sans ’09). We should start revving up the bowl coverage (including a Q&A with a G-Tech blogger) next week!
