Norm Chow once again appears to be Hawaii's guy

This is a soap opera.

One day he's the contender and the next he's not.

But it appears, with multiple sources reporting, that Norm Chow has now become the leading candidate to land the Hawaii job.

Clearly anything can change and, as we've seen the last 48 hours or so, it has, but it seems a decision is close to being made and that Chow's name will be on a deal that could go out in the next day or two.

With this development, the fact I fully expect Chow to take the job if offered, I think I need to move us to CHOWCON 2.

Hopefully it's only temporary - but, it's not looking good.

As much as it would suck to lose Chow

I can’t help but be happy for the guy. He should have been a HC a long time ago.

Chowcon 1 Imminent

Nothing official but all sources point to it being done. Let’s hope Whit has coaches flying to Travis Wilson, and driving to Chase Hansen’s house right now.

Yeah...when word is official, we'll move down.

Disappointing day. It looked like Hawaii was set to hire Dirk Koetter yesterday.

This is too bad.

I think Chow was really good this year. I really liked his play calling and fully believe we would not have made a bowl game without him.

I hope it doesn’t hurt our recruiting too much. But we should be fine.

NOOOOOOOOO!

I quit! That’s it! If he goes they need another offensive guy to continue that offense. I hear June Jones is looking for a job…

Yea June Jones' offense doesn't exactly mesh with Chow's

About the only thing Chow’s Offense and Jones’ offense have in common is they are played with a QB, they are ran on the offensive side of the ball, and the goal is to score points, other than that, they are drastically different schemes.

yeah..

I was kidding about June Jones. I’m gonna miss Chow. I think I’ll take the rest of the day off work…

Chow leaving could devastate our offense next year.

I don’t even want to think about yet another year of breaking in a new coordinator and another year of trying out a new offense. This much instability at the OC position slams the breaks on the offense and can make it impossible for quarterbacks to thrive. We’ve been lucky to have such good defenses the past several years while we tool around with OC after OC. Whittingham MUST get his offensive staff locked down with talented personnel or we’re doomed to mediocrity.

Doubt it

He’s already the highest paid Utah assistant (Subsidized by UCLA).

A head coaching gig has long been something he’s coveted. Rumor has it part of the reason he left BYU when he did, was because it was made well known to him he wasn’t going to be considered.

And he’s a native Hawai’ian, and started his coaching (albeit at a HS level) there as well.
