Could Utah's coaching search be down to Krystkowiak and Gottfried?

Stay connected for news and updates

Lya Wordraska of the Salt Lake Tribune is reporting Chris Hill could be close to a decision and it looks like Utah's next head coach will either be Mark Gottfried or Larry Krystkowiak.

Both candidates are essentially the polar opposites of one another. Gottfried is a known recruiter, Krystkowiak more a tactician. Gottfried has solid resume with rich coaching experience, Krystkowiak's resume is a bit light. Gottfried was pretty much forced into resigning his post at Alabama, Krystkowiak left after two successful years at Montana.

The one thing both have in common is that neither are a current head coach at the college level.

So who's it going to be?

I guess we might find out today.

Though here is an interesting tidbit pulled off Twitter

Jim Harrick former UCLA HC enjoying convention with former assistant Mark Gottfried, former UCLA HC Larry Farmer now assist at Central Mich

Could Gottfried already be putting a staff together here at Utah?

Hard to say. But I should point out Larry Farmer was Weber State's head coach from 1985 to 1988 - so he knows the state.

At least marginally.

If it's down to these two, who do you want?
