It's time for an update...
With Utah's move to the Pac-12 mere months away, we need to do a bit of housecleaning here.
For starters, I changed the headline of the blog to reflect a more updated theme (and a bit of optimism) while also keeping a bit of the past - you know, embracing Max Hall's classless comments.
Of course, then there is the quote provided by Lou Holtz during the 2007 Poinsettia Bowl. You can find it on the far right of the front page. I added that quote shortly after Utah's 35-32 victory over Navy and the Utes pretty much lived up to it the very next year, finishing 13-0 and rolling over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl.
But Utah is not a non-BCS team anymore. This summer, they'll officially take the leap to BCS status and that quote will then look obsolete and silly.
Yet I'm not sure what to replace it with.
So, let's hear some ideas. What should replace Lou Holtz's 2007 quote about Utah having the best non-BCS talent in the country?

Moving up to a delux conference in the sky
The Jeffersons theme song with a twist.
ok, maybe not. The link is funny though.

That quote in the headline is the one I like the best...
And I think I’m going to use it.
While the downthread BYU ones are funny, we’ve already got our shot at BYU in the headline of the blog. ;-)
No, that is impossible!!!
Audio link of the actual call.

Personally I think you settled..
Just Pac-12 Champion? Nah home of the Future Pac-12/Rose Bowl Champion Utah Utes and all their classless fans.7

Pac 12 fan here.
I have been a long time Pac 10 fan that lives around Portland Oregon. I don’t have a specific team I follow (except U of A basketball), but I do know I always cheer for the Pac 10/12 schools. Once I heard you guys were joining I started cheering for you guys also last year. Im excited to see some new blood join the conference.
I’m kind of curious how excited you and your fans are to joining a bigger conference, and knowing every year your going to get to play some of the best colleges.
We're pretty excited...
I don’t think it’s going to really hit until maybe even the first conference game of the season.
Seeing the Pac-12 logo on the field at RES was really nice. Can’t wait for the first conference home game against Washington.
I think that first game at home is going to be nuts for you guys.
I think it will hit you, but when you really start feeling it is in conference play when you have to play against UW, Cal, Stan (I dont know your schedule)… but basically when you have 3-4 weeks of all tough games thats when your going to feel the difference in the conference.
But at the same time thats what makes it fun. One big game after another. You don’t have to wait all year and hype up just one or two games.
I wudda thought you'd say...
WE;RE JAZZED!!

I was more excited than Tom Cruise on Oprah.
I know, I know. It is hard to believe.

i like the fact that larry scott is very proactive and wheeling and dealing.
craig thompson just waits for the kibble and bits.
Jon " Bones " Jones new light heavyweight champion. Even if Jones got struck flush in the face he would recover and defeat whoever is in front of him. I told everyone the fight would be easy. Almost felt sorry for Rua. Anderson Silva would never fight "Bones". He is too scared to fight the real P4P champion. Nick Diaz is near the peak of his career. 2 more fights and then he fights for UFC Glory. The Wolfman. The most popular man on Mania and the Elder Statesman on all things MMA.

Maybe a quote from Larry Scott talking to Miss Utah Teen Tasha Smedley
As long as any Larry Scott will do.

He keeps the universe in balance.
One really awesome Larry Scott who is the commissioner of the PAC 12. Shaking things up with positive high profile media attention.
One creepy Larry Scott who tries to get a teenage girl excited about his “ring of fire” exercise.

Enough about TDS already...
I think we need to leave everything BYU-realted behind us. Obviously you can’t (and don’t want to) get rid of the hatred in the rivalry, but we really need to focus on Utah, not TDS. The Max Hall reference gives too much credit to him and their team. What if we logged on to their site and saw “The team Kyle Whittingham wasn’t willing to coach.” To them it would be like saying “We’re better than him even though he didn’t want us.” To Ute fans we would think, “Yep. You’re right! He’s too good for you!!!” By having a Max Hall reference, especially one that even implies that we’re classless, does nothing but validate what they are already thinking. Gandhi NEVER spoke of anti-war. He only spoke of peace. Focus on the thing that we want, not the things that we DON’T want (such as TDS or any TDS publicity). We are bigger than that. Good riddance. See you in September. Moving on.
