Krystkowiak introductory press conference

Utah will introduce Larry Krystkowiak as its next head coach today during a 2:00 press conference at the Huntsman Center. I don't know if any of the local media will cover it live, but I'm pretty sure 13201280 and ESPN 700 will carry audio of the press conference as it happens.

The official website will archive the press conference, however, I don't see any indication you can view it live on their site.

Hopefully today's press conference helps calm some fears about the Krystkowiak hire.

enjoyed it

You can’t really put much into a press conference, but he impressed me.

I liked how Mike “I have a dozen marbles in my throat” Lagaschulte conducted and there was no questions right away. The first question came from some bum in teh back row and he had to say “media only please”.

ESPN700 had an interview a few minutes ago. He wants to focus on the local kids, that would be awesome. He wants to recruit the best players in the country and that is another good thing.

Anxious to see who transfers and who stays on board…

Boylen had a far better press conference...

But we know how that turned out. I remember wanting to run through a wall after Boylen’s press conference.

This, though, was very a matter of fact.

agreed.

He impressed me with his straight forward and positive outlook. Boylen got me fired up, but he was just a master of playing the emotions. He wasn’t all that great when it really came down to it.

Only time will tell, but I am a bigger fan of Larry K after that presser.

Turf of Champions

Lya W is reporting that the MWC logos are being scourged from the RES turf today and the new PAC-12 logos are going in. This has more hype for me than the BBall hire.
I am trying to stay as neutral as possible about this hire and thankfully football is there to distract me!

Forget the local kids

Sorry, but recruiting in Utah won’t do jack for this program. Recruiting local kids may give him a good bunch of role players, and benchers, but if we really want to win, Arizona, and California.

local kids

The greatest player in Utah history in terms of NBA stats at least came from Utah/Colorado.

That is Tom Chambers. 20,000 points in the NBA.

Andre Miller (CA) – 14,000 and counting
Keith Van Horn (CA) – 9000 +
Bogut (Australia) 5,000 and counting.

Not all that interested in NBA

I’m not necessarily interested in what they did in the NBA. True I’ll follow them, but I’m more worried about what they do while wearing the Red. And arguably the best era in Utah Basketball was built not on local kids.

Local Kids are fine, and once in a while a good one comes along.

Heck even look at BYU recently. The difference between another first round exit, and their run the last two years, was a phenom from New York.

I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be first round fodder. That’s what BYU has become by recruiting locally. That’s not good enough for me. And that especially is not good enough for a Pac-12 Team.
