Utah-Colorado moved from Saturday to Friday, Nov. 25th

Utah and Colorado will meet on Black Friday, the Pac-12 announced today. The game had originally been scheduled for the next day, however, with television in mind, the conference has announced its move to Friday night.

The Friday night start in November means it will probably be a very cold game. It also means a national audience is probable.

UPDATE: The athletic department also announced the Utah-BYU game will start at 7:15 on ESPN2.

Homefield

I just wish it was an Arizona or SoCal team we were playing at night, in November at Rice-Eccles.

The benefit of this is that we are the Laramie, only ya’ know we don’t have move the cows before we take the field.

The New "Laramie?"

Cold yes, cows no! Pullman is the “Laramie” of the Pac 12.

Weather

I was meaning more that we are likely to have to most unpredictable weather, not that we are the new glorified truck stop. And Boulder will produce its fair share of cold weather games from the AZ and CA teams.

ucla sucks even worse in the cold. they lost to wyoming in the vegas bowl about 8 years ago favored by 12.5 points

wyoming won the game and it was the coldest night of the year in las vegas.

Anderson Silva would never fight "Bones". He is too scared to fight the real P4P champion. Nick Diaz, the man who will prove to the MMA world that he is the best WW in the world.

Utah is the new Nebraska?

I wonder if Utah will play Colorado the day after Thanksgiving every year.

How do you know it’s a night game?

I guess that's just speculation on my part...

With it being the Friday after Thanksgiving, you’re right, it very well could be a day game.

i'll bet many people will watch it. especially if there is no nfl this season.

The Colorado thing is cool news

But why are you giving updates on when we play a mid major in Sept?

by Comrade Crimson on May 10, 2011 4:41 PM MDT reply actions

Because it's a nationally televised game.

And it might be our only game on ESPN this year.

I love the Colorado news.

Thanksgiving weekend is a perfect weekend to move a game to a Friday.

I think it would be great if this could become a regular tradition. I want the extra hype and a new unique tradition with the Colorado game.

Glad to see the move

If the conference doesn’t have it televised nationally at least we can have the “War of the Rockies” broadcast in Utah and Colorado markets. Go Utes!

Utah-BYU game

awesome that its on ESPN2. Awesome. Thats where it belongs. I wish it wasn’t so late. I feel bad for the players having to wait all day to play it, but thats the way things go and its not all that bad.

As far as other TV games, does this mean we will be appearing on FOX/FX/PAC-12 network more often?

The late start kinda blows down in Provo...

If it were up in SLC, you could tailgate before the game. But that doesn’t happen much down at BYU.

As for other TV games, yeah, well except for the Pac-12 Network since that won’t be around until next season.

Rocky Mountain Rumble!

After brainstorming a bunch of ideas of what to call the UU-CU rivalry game, I think the best one that came out of it was RMR → Rocky Mountain Rumble. Start using it to make it our own!

I do like the move to Black Friday for this game, this is when CU used to play Nebraska in their in-conference rivalry game. It’s a good day to start the tradition.

The name is too close to the CU-CSU name

That game is called the Rocky Mountain Showdown. We’re begging for confusion if we use your suggestion.

Anyway, I say, let the nickname develop organically. If a rivalry develops, it’ll have its own character and we don’t need to invent nicknames or whatnot.

Rumble in the Rockies

I don’t think people will get confused since nobody knows about the CU-CSU name.
