Pac-12 releases ESPN/ABC schedule, no Utah games planned

The Pac-12 has released its ESPN/ABC schedule and it looks like the Utes will miss out on playing a conference game anywhere on the World Wide Leader in Sports - at least for the moment.

As reported earlier today, Utah and BYU will play their out of conference game on ESPN2. And even though the Colorado-Utah game was moved to a Friday, there is no indication the game will be aired on ESPN or ESPN2.

That's not to say the Utes won't have any games picked up by ESPN or ABC, but right now, the preliminary contests selected do not include Utah.

So there is a good chance a great deal of their games will be aired on FSN and potentially FX.

Boooo.

I keep accidentally eating my pets. Maybe I should get something less appetizing, like a cat instead of a Twinkie.

Was expected the last year of the current TV contract

If you haven’t heard, the PAC-10 contract that runs through this year was easily the worst in the BCS leagues. I figured Utah wouldn’t get much ESPN/ABC time this first year unless they get hot and ranked highly so that ESPN would want to pick up a few games in the 6-12 day before game window option they have.

To put in perspective, Oregon St has 0 games on this preliminary list and the Oregon-Stanford game on Nov 12 is omitted also.

I was hoping Utah-SC would at least make ESPN...

With it being the first ever Pac-12 game and all.

Me too

I was hoping for that, but they can still pick it up the week before the game. (Crossing fingers)

I’m sure you could have got a hotter pic of Erin reporting on ESPN :)

Utah - USC

I would have thought the inaugural Pac-12 would have been on one of the ESPN channels. I’ll be at the game anyway.

It's still possible, I guess.

That day, the only game scheduled for ESPN/ABC is ND at Michigan State (7:00). So it’s still a likely game, IMO.

Don't Forget FX

Fox has said that they plan to put Pac-12 games on FX This upcoming season, so there’s a good chance that.

The Utah/USC game, being the first ever Pac 12 game, would be a perfect game to have on FX in order to tout the upcoming Pac 12.

No FX will be for the 2012 season

I expect the USC/Utah game to get picked up by Fox in June. In the past, all but one or two USC games get picked up before the start of the season. This is just round one.

No, FX Starts in 2011

http://static.foxsports.com/content/fscom/binary/2011/04/04/College_Football_Comes_to_FX1301948722601.pdf

FX will display a minimum of 13 games featuring conference and non conference matchups from the PAC 12 and Big 12 in 2011.

agreed.

Jon " Bones " Jones new UFC light heavyweight champion. Even if Jones got struck flush in the face he would recover and defeat whoever is in front of him. I told everyone the fight would be easy. Anderson Silva would never fight "Bones". He is too scared to fight the real P4P champion. Nick Diaz, the man who will prove to the MMA world that he is the best WW in the world.

Jazzy........

just wanted to say thanks to you. Its so nice to come here and discuss the Utes with actual Ute fans. I get so tired of the trolls on the Des News and Trib who like to pronounce doom and gloom. I actually stopped reading comments on both sites because there are WAY too many immature Zoob Trolls.

BlockU beats the other guys to the punch every time. Thanks Jazzy for making this place great!

GO UTES!

Sucks, I wanted to watch you guys

Pac-12 initiation year! Exceed “mid-major” expectations or crash and burn? Either way, it should be entertaining. Just don’t pull off a 7 or 8 win only season, that’s boring :p

Should be seeing more Utah games on TV in the future though :)

by scotty256 on May 11, 2011 2:10 PM MDT reply actions

You will be watching them, just a matter of where.

Just wait, Fox will pick up 3-6 of these games in June, then ESPN and Fox will pick up more in the 12 day window. The few remaining will be shown on the local Fox affiliate and depending on your TV package, you made get to see the balance. Lucky for everyone this is the only year you have to put up with the old contract.

Welcome to the pac 12….

If it makes you feel any better the beavers don’t have any games on tv yet either. At any rate I very happy that the Utah is in the conf now it will be great to play your team on a regular base now. I’ve been to and watched Utah and beavers games and they are always great games so here is to more of the same and good luck next season. A Beaver fan

Thanks for the welcome!

I have a lot of respect for the Oregon State program and team. We have definitely had some good games. Looking forward to many, many more!
