Utah and TCU set to battle for Mountain West baseball title

Utah baseball enters their three game set against TCU looking to win the program's first ever Mountain West Conference regular season title.

The Utes are currently 1.5 games back of the 10th ranked Frogs, though have three more conference losses, so there certainly is little room for error heading into these next three games. The series kicks off today at 5:30 Salt Lake time and you can view the contest on the mtn network.

If Utah wins all three games, they'll be guaranteed at least a share of the title and could win it outright if TCU loses once to New Mexico in their final conference series of the season.

So here's to a solid series and the potential for a conference championship. Of course, it might be asking too much for the Utes to leave Fort Worth with three straight wins. The Frogs are a fantastic team and haven't lost a series yet in Mountain West play.

But that shouldn't diminish what Utah has accomplished this season. They were picked to finish sixth in the conference at the start of the season and regardless of what happens in Fort Worth, will easily finish in the top-two.

That's pretty impressive and it's certainly been a special regular season for Utah baseball. Hopefully it continues this weekend.

very excited for this series.

Like you said, three wins will be difficult. I figure we will win at least one. I am hoping we can win two of three. But TCU is a VERY good team.

Hopefully, TCU can find out what it feels like to get #Croned

is matt purke still in the tcu rotation? plus are the utes ranked? i would doubt if you did not mention it.

Jon " Bones " Jones new UFC light heavyweight champion. Even if Jones got struck flush in the face he would recover and defeat whoever is in front of him. I told everyone the fight would be easy. Anderson Silva would never fight "Bones". He is too scared to fight the real P4P champion. Nick Diaz, the man who will prove to the MMA world that he is the best WW in the world.

The Utes took game 1 in 11 innings

You can get the games on CBS Gametracker as well as the following site.

You know you are hard up when you are watching Ute baseball. However, if they sweep TCU and TCU drops one in their next series, the Utes would take firs in the MWC and go to the college world series. Its a long shot but we have a lot of time until football

long offseason

It may be a long offseason, but baseball is a lot of fun to follow. Especially if the Utes can get into the CWS. It doesn’t get as much publicity as the basketball tournament, but it is a lot of fun to follow. Let’s go Utes and take the series this weekend and hope for a loss from TCU.

Why would Utah need to hope TCU has a loss against New Mexico?

IF Utah wins the series the respective conference records would be…
Utah: 18-5
TCU: 15-5

TCU would finish off its conference schedule with 3 games at New Mexico. If TCU wins all three games against New Mexico, then it would be a tie for conference champions with both teams having an 18-5 record. Utah would take the head to head series 3-0.

Wouldn’t the head-to-head series be the tie breaker? If so the Utes would be the regular season MWC Champion.

Of course, this assumes we win the next two games in Fort Worth.

Not to menton..

Utah vs. undefeated Cal rugby is being replayed this evening on ESPN 2. Looks like if the Utes win they could be playing for the national championship. Great chance to see our new RB.
