C.J. Cron drafted 17th by the Angels
The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have drafted Utah first baseman C.J. Cron.
Cron led the Utes to a 29-21 record and second place finish in the Mountain West Conference - even though they were picked sixth out of seventh prior to the season beginning.
It was the most successful regular season for Utah baseball since the MWC formed in 1999 and Cron certainly became an electrifying and most talked about player in program history.
Cron is a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and was named to the Louisville Slugger All-American team last week.

California Angels
Congratulations to C.J. Cron! What a great accomplishment. I am definitely going to attend more Angels’ games in the future!
the scouting report is
That he has the most raw power in the draft, so he should be playing soon thanks to the college experience

probably 2 or 3 years
has to get used to wood bats first (though he does have some exp with them from his short stint in the cape cod league), and work on his defense at first since he is relatively new to the position.
Exciting!
CJ will possibly get to play in Salt Lake (provided he doesn’t get traded) at some point in the next few years. The Angels got a steal here……
It also looks like they have lost faith in Kendrys Morales.
