Interesting notes in the press release

A big thanks to JazzyUte for posting the link to a press release from the athletic department.  A couple of things caught my eye.  (If you have been around a while on BlockU, you know I am the biggest geek in the world when it comes to this stuff).

-As Jazzy mentioned, it says nothing of Benji Kemoeatu.  I am not going to get my hopes up, but I really hope he can make it at some point.  His brother Chris was one of the best guards we have ever had and I think Benji could be just as good.  It does mention Po'u Paleeli, the 380 pound beast.  Hopefully, he gets his academics in order and can get a full camp.  A guy like him could be invaluable at opening holes in the run game.

-Of the guys who are candidates to greyshirt, I don't think we are really planning on any of them contributing this year, so no real losses there.  A year to develop is usually a good thing.

-Words can not describe how excited I am to hear that Shawn Asiata and Tauni Vakapuna are trying to come back.  I LOVED Asiata as a fullback last year.  He is a monster out there.  He reminds me of Tonga from BYU a couple years ago.  Threat out of the backfield.  He can truck a linebacker.  Solid.  Vakapuna will probably be 5th string in my mind, but he could be a special teams stud for us.  Both of these guys bring a large amount of toughness and grit.

Fall camp (and the season really) can't get here soon enough.
