Jordan Loveridge commits to Utah basketball

Dick Harmon & the Utah Pump-N-Run are both reporting that prized in-state recruit Jordan Loveridge, a highly touted small forward from West Jordan, has committed to the University of Utah.

For first year head coach Larry Krystkowiak, this is a massive, gigantic, monumental get.

Maybe, hopefully, this means Utah basketball is finally turning it around.

Regardless, great news for the program!

Love it!

As much as I’m loving the current Ute football success, I love Ute hoops. I hope this is the sign of more things to come.

Love to see some tangible signs of Coach K’s ability to turn the program already.

Utah Recruiting

The guy from the Pac-12 blog site is amazing. he has put together a list of all the recruits (in football) Utah and the rest of the Pac-12 are pursuing.

I am impressed with the breadth of our recruiting efforts. We are trying to sign guys in Fla, WA and Louisiana. I didn’t know that we had coordinators assigned to Fla and Louisiana, but those states are hotbeds of talent. One or two special recruits from those states would be like icing on the cake.

This is a good get, not a great get

A great get would be landing a kid who single-handedly could take us from 10 wins to 20. Loveridge ain’t close to being that player — not as a true, anyway.

But Loveridge does give Utah (and more importantly, Coach K) some badly needed momentum. Utah basketball has been historically bad the last two years. My biggest fear is that the enthusiasm over the Loveridge signing (which is legitimate) turns into unwarranted hype. As things stand, we’re going nowhere in 2012-13 and beyond without signing a glass eating 4 or a shot-blocking 5 (preferably one with better offensive skills than Foster).

But getting Loveridge gives this observer more hope that Larry can land that kind of player. For the first time in quite a while, Utah hoops is actually trending upward.

I’m a happy camper too!! We need not fret about this staffs’ recruiting ability as proven already. These guys are professional in every way… in the trenches every day and leaving no stones unturned. This young man made a solid decision and I congratulate him and the Utah nation!
