BYU Football Installs New Countdown Clock Cougar football announced today the installation of a new countdown clock at the team's practice facility. Its purpose is to remind the players how many days, hours, minutes and seconds remain until BYU plays in its most prized game of the year - the 2011 Armed Forces Bowl. "With no conference championship to play for and obviously already out of BCS bowl contention, our sole focus now turns to the Granddaddy of All Texas Bowls," head coach Bronco Mendenhall said in a phone interview Thursday morning. The Cougars are in their first year of independence and signed an agreement with the bowl game this spring. Their opponent will be an also-ran C-USA team. "We're excited to line up against a storied conference like Conference USA - one of the elite conferences in all of college football," said BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe in a statement.
