An ugly defensive struggle for most of the game, but Jordan Wynn, Reggie Dunn, DaVonte Christopher, Dre Anderson, and John White all have season high games to lead the Utes to a September to Remember victory over the slumping kitties.
The defense makes the Heapster look like Max Hall at his worst and after a little initial success, he has his worst start of his career.
Roscoe mumbles some goofy semi-motivational gibberish after the game as the Provo Hair-Balls look forward to the rest of the season with the hope they can hang on and stay bowl eligible. Don’t wanna miss out on the Armed Forces Bowl!!!

This will probably look a lot like the '99 game.
Utah’s keys to success:
1. the defense has to get off the field on 3rd downs.
2. the offense has to put itself in good 3rd-down situations.
3. keep BYU one-dimensional.
If we do all 3 things, we win by 2+ possessions. 2 of the 3, it will be very close. 1 or none, it’s probably a loss.

I feel like Utah is the better team, especially after last weeks tough game. TDS keeps the game close because its a rivalry game and they are home. But Utah’s physical play wins it for the Utes. GO UTES!!!

Football game is a relatively simple game.
Our O-line must do a better job this week than they did against USC. MUCH BETTER! John White please no more fumbles.
Sitting in the end zone last week in the coliseum, I couldn’t see that Jordan Wynn didn’t have much velocity on his throws. Though I did have a great angle 1) to see his passes getting batted down and 2) Dres Anderson making one heckuva of a one handed grab going across the middle. Jordan needs to still improve despite a decent game last week. I like the no picks on our offense though. C’mon Utah let’s crush the kewgs.

I've said it before..
and I’ll say it again. Everything will come down to how well we play in the trenches. I’m not too worried about our defensive line. However, they still need to apply more pressure on the kitty’s offensive. If they successfully pressure the golden boy then I think we can expect at least 2 picks.
On the other side of the ball, if our offensive line steps up and gives Wynn enough time, I feel confident enough in him that he can make some big plays. As for White, I don’t think the kitty’s front seven can handle him IF our o-line does its job. I really think that the difference in talent and speed between our receivers and their d-backs will become very apparent, but our offensive line simply has to give Wynn the time to let plays develop. The bottom line is our offensive line absolutely has to step up today. We have WAY too much talent all over the field to be wasted with bad run/pass blocking.
i say low scoring game. utah 21-17.

Utah Controls the game
BYU opens the game by scoring the first points of the game with field goals on their first two drives to go up 6-0.
Utah establishes the run game and Dominates by mid first quarter. They reel off 17 points before the half with 2 touchdowns and a field goal.
At half time score is 17-6.
Second half, Utah continues to dominate the Time of Possession with a pounding run game and efficient pass game. BYU unable to run the ball consistently is in 3rd and long situations and will be unable to consistently convert. This will also force BYU to rely on Heaps who will throw couple of picks. Utah will score one more touchdown and 2 field goals before the 4th quarter is half way over opening up garbage time for both teams. Utah goes to the second sting BYU does not. Byu will end up scoring a touchdown in garbage time.
Final score 30-13. Utah wins!

Has scored more than 2 touchdowns against FBS competition. Unless Wynn and Heaps have significantly improved from week 2 to week 3 I predict a low scoring game. Utah 17-10.

That's how I see it...
An insurance TD after maybe an interception on a BYU late drive (possibly a pick-six or the pick comes well in BYU territory, to set up an easy Utes’ score).
There's nothing I would love to see more

I know there’s no “transitive property” when it comes to CFB games…but getting shutout by the perennial bottom of the barrel in the SEC makes me think that BYU’s D may not be everything the analysts think it is.
I wish Texas had started Case McCoy from the start of last week’s game…plus the score isn’t as indicative of the final score. Prince throwing those 3 picks certainly ended that game early. Will Neuheisel make it through the entire season?

…and remember we were down 16 in the 3rd Q last year.
…and BYU has been terrible at making adjustments after the half this year.

First half musings:
1: we need to get the running game going cause BYU has our number
2: We need capitalize on turnovers: 7 points on 3 TO’s is not acceptable (I’ll forgive the goal line TO)
3: BYU must have a bounty on DVC….He’s had his bell rung THREE times. (one that was a cheap shot that should have been a penalty)
4: whenever I start to doubt Jordan Wynn, he does something good

I think he enjoys D-coaching better. I could see him resigning after his 3-year contract is up. He has a hard time speaking intelligently, and has made some statements that makes it sound like he is a bit panicked. Whit seems like the opposite. Composed and pretty direct in his speech.

Only concern is BYU trying to lay a mean-spirited hurt on players. Injuries would suck this early in the season.
That's what Roscoe teaches down there apparently.
His plan seems to be for his players to go all out in the early minutes in an effort to put up points and injure opponents.

That luck tacked on 30. The best part was how dominant we looked throughout. Great coverage on their (good) receivers, get pressure on the QB, spectacular play from the O-line against a big, athletic, and powerful defense.

Had the official called the helmet-to-helmet in the first quarter, Utes go up 14-0 and probably romp to a 62-3 win.

People talk about 7 turnovers like it was solely BYU self destructing, when at least 4 of the fumbles were a direct result of great plays by Utah Defenders.
Just look at the DiLuigi fumble on the Utah 3. Star made a great move to reach in and smack that ball out.
Utah also had two turnovers when they were putting drives together in that first half...
Coulda dropped 70 on ’em!
